I am personally getting sick of "what is my car worth threads" Particularly when I am accused of talking certain cars values up or down?? (see taimar thread)

Are you selling your car??
Whats your car worth to you?
How much did you pay for it?
How long have you had it?
How much have you spent on it?

Bottom line is that you know what you paid, how much you have spent and what you think its worth. Thats the price you stick on pistonheads. Someone will either then buy it or knock you down to a price you can still live with. Your cars rarity is always on your side since their will always be more buyers than cars.

If you're not selling then its all pretty irrelevant stuff

You could offer me 12k for any one of my cars and I wouldn't sell. You could offer £30k for my griffen and I wouldn't sell

Too many people put too much stock into what things are worth. it miff's me, especially when I get accused of being a speculator. Anyone who knows me also knows just how much I thrown down that bottomless car pit.

Neil.

Neil - I agree. I wouldn't sell my Vixen for any money. It "cost" about £26k in total but I don't give a sod. It's so much pleasure to drive and own. So much time and emotion went into the rebuild that I couldn't ever be parted from my beautiful car. There were times during the rebuild when I felt like selling it as a project but thankfully I kept going - even to the point of remortgaging my flat. I'm so glad I did.

Nice yellow Vixen in Sprint mag! spin One of the best articles in there for a while.
Also nice Grantura, Tuscan and Silver M in Classic and Sports Car last month. Prime examples of classic TVRs who's owners have put so much time, effort, money and love into them that they are priceless and only they can appreciate the cars' true value. I doubt they would ever want to part with them.

That article has proved to be very good inspiration, as I purchased a bright yellow 1970 Vixen S2 just before Christmas that is in need of some tlc. Car had a body-off restoration circa '93, little use between 1994 and 2001 and stood since 2001 until now. Basically needs a mechanical freshen up, as body and interior in good condition.

Big day for me yesterday - started for the first time after overhauling carb and mini-service. Went to bed beaming
