I wish to replace the front discs on my '79 Taimar which are Triumph TR6 components. There are two different part nos available (according to the Rimmer Brothers website) depending on the TR6 production number. A TR6 owner has told me that there was a change in the early 1970s from imperial to metric so it is most likely that the later version is fitted to my Taimar.
Can anyone confirm this?

Think you are confusing the Disc with the caliper sTeVeR

I think the only difference in the Rimmer Bros part numbers is one set is cross drilled (performance upgrade) which shoudn't make any difference to the fit.
The only other variation I can think might apply is I think some TR6 models had knock on wheels.

I agree, the bolt mountings and the holes for the pins are the difference.

I fitted TR6 vented discs to my vixen,,,

Thanks. You are quite right - I was looking at the alternative disc + pad kits which are differentiated by the imperial/metric calipers not the discs. I should have asked the question of the calipers; I presume the Taimar would use the later metric type ?

They probably are,,, I believe they're the M16 Caliper, the same as the Ford RS2000???

The M16 pads that I have seen have a smaller elongated hole as opposed to a larger round hole on the imperial calipers (as on Vixen).

How sad is that???

Why not get them from one of the specialists like Adrian Venn etc. then you know you are getting the right part and you are supporting the specialists too.

I think the way to tell is if the dust guard around the caliper is held on with a wire clip, or not.
If you have a wire clip then you need the later style and if not the former style. I suspect it is more than likely that you need the later type, as did my car.
