My Grantura is missing the two pieces of side air vent trim (the vents from the engine bay). The car is a 1967 1800S MkIV.

I don't have a pic from my own car at hand but I mean this part:
www.allsportauto.com/english/detailphoto.php3?zl_id=4503&zl_idMD=664
(This image happens to be a Mk II but I guess it might even be the same part used on MkIV)
Is this trim actually taken from any other vehicle (most other parts are!) and if so from which make and year?

If I remember it correctly the Griffith has got one trim border and the Grantura has two, right!?
As my car has got none I would like to get hold of "new" ones
Help is appreciated

I don't know if this is accurate or not, but the information I obtained on the original source of that metal bar is that it was from a grab handle on a boat!

My Grantura was a Mk II (1961) and very original, it had just a single strip each side, see www.tvrcc.org/images/grantura.jpg

The Mk III likewise. The Manx-tail Vixen 1600 had two strips each side.

"Car & Car Conversions" May 1967 shows an 1800S MkIV with two strips each side which sounds like the spec for your car.

Check the "TVR Gold Portfolio" for lots of reference material [often available on Ebay].

I think you are right. Thanks.
But where can I find new strips? Any suggestions?

These days the there are 2 options, the TVR S series has an interior trim strip that when new, was fake wood veneered (later 91 cars have a steel versions that will not do the job)...this the same extrusion that was used on the TVR M series cars as a finisher on the vynil roof cars. This can be stripped cleaned and cut to lenght and polished (the extrusion has a slot down the inside length to take a taper head 1BA bolt) OR you can buy the S/S strip (not the brass chromed) that you need from a auto jumble and send it to me and I will trim it to lenght and press the finishing end into it and supply some nes spring steel clips and self tapper to mount it to your car (I will add that this original version with the spring steel clips means that you have to slide the finisher along the clip and there is a real possibility that you will damage the paint work whilst you are doing this)

So it seems there is nowhere to find strips that is just "bolt on" without modification then.
Ok, I'll have to keep my eyes open on auto jumbles. However, living in Sweden the chances of finding TVR parts of any kind at an auto jumble are almost nonexistent!
My plan was to try to tape/glue the strips to the cars using the same tape that is used for trim on modern cars, to avoid scratching the paint work.

I do remember that at least some 1960/70-models of the VW beetle have side trim that look very similar. I'm going to have a look as soon as I visit the garage where I have my own 1969 beetle stored.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. If I find a trim strip that can be modified I will contact you. Thanks!

Göran
