But why putthe battery (and it is a big one) that far forward. It is not going to promote good rear grip is it. Passenger footwell.....

Is it fast? Powerfull?

the battery takes the place of the spare wheel ,is a bit lighter ,and is not so far forwards .the car handles well .or at least my passengers always say so lol.it i feel ,is a little tail endy ,which is down to the rear wheels set at zero camber for max footprint in a straight line .
its best time was in 1993 at santa pod ,it ran 12.85s in 77 degree heat and 988 mb barometric pr ,so not really favourable cond .my best poss was 12.56s .this was on treaded tyres and over 2 second 60 ft ,full rd trim weight 2500lbs . i dont really keep up to date thse days with m type tvr quarter mile performance ,so i dont know if that is seen as fast ,perhaps someone could say thats more in touch ?

powerwize ,it had on 9psi boost ,286 lb ft torque ,and 250 bhp at 4800 which was the rolling rd limit at the time ,this was with no air going through the intercooler , i normally ran it at 12 psi .

Just sold our Cooper S, was going to get it Bini Blowered, b4 veto'd!! Is it a std 3.5 with the blowers on it. Not bad power.

But a moderately tuned 500 RV8 make those numbers now (even allowing for the roller topping out). Mine it must be fun when you open the bonnet! (Bit like mine!)

Post it on the main thread, but I think a mildly warmed over 500 Griff / Chim will do about that.

Mind a std 3.5 would only make about 160bhp straight out of a period Rover. 500 spec RV8's make std make about 260 - 260bhp and a mildly warmed one about 310 but very good torque (350 or maybe more - all just cash!).

So you times are bloody good.

Mine is not a std 500wink (Or even an RV8)....

The times are quite amazing. Dont know how you managed a 60ft time of 2,0 seconds unless you were on seriosuly soft rubber.

Yes - I still have mine - Adam Quantrill has one, the original demo car is in the North somewhere together with the first demo. There is a blue one I've seen and another green one that surfaced in Southport a few years ago. A 390 SX was exported to Australia, a further car went to Kuwait before the first Gulf War. One was written off and there are possibly two others...

Interesting how the RV8 always seems to sound different from the Ford V8. (Even allowing for turbos, exhaust systems, etc.

That de-bumpered rear end and flared arches looks decidedly cohesive and quite cool. Shame the front ends dont look so good de-bumpered. Has anyone ever done a bespoke bonnet? Nice motor!
Usually, I have to dig through the picture section, but today...

ivanhoew, I've been stealing pics of your car off the net for years. Great to finally know more about the performance.

Thx,
B.
