Afternoon.

Does anyone know where I can look to find the "as stock" information about weight of cars and when chassis numbers were produced, that kind of thing?

Hope the weather holds for the weekend!

Cheers

RE: Chassis No/Year produced/etc Most of this information for pre-1980 cars is held by the TVRCC, though some records are sketchy and some were lost in the 1975 fire.

Regarding weights, personally I think the factory printed (almost) whatever they wanted on the sales leaflets, and this was usually copied into the road tests of the time (as that was what was done then), so any published weights you find should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Cheers DavidY

I ask because, over a few beers last night, my mate and I we discussing these kind of things, he has a 1974 Lotus +2S 130/5, and the question "Which is heavier?" came up. I would have thought the 1600m was the lighter, but we didn't settle on an answer.

Hi Rob: Being an obsessive/compulsive sort of chap, I copied down all the info that was published years ago in the Model Register in 'Sprint' (Hoorah for pre-Data Protection). Email me your snailmail address via my profile and I will send you photocopies of my handwritten notes (hey this was before computers were invented !)
