Neil,

Have a look here....

http://www.trelleborg.com/industrialavs/images/pro...

The original unit is very similar in dimensions to 17-1691 but that doesn't mean it's properties are the same!

Cheers Phil.
Do you know of suppliers or do they supply direct?

Neil,

Sorry, can't help you with suppliers, assume you've tried Adrian V and/or Steve R?

I got my replacements from DG about 8 years ago, they weren't quite the same as the originals as they had tapered central sleves, the originals were parallel.

Here you go.

This is before the propshaft & hand brake cable was done.
Hi. Could you list what your tires and wheels are, and what size, backspacing, etc.. if possible?
What trans are you using and does the shifter line up to the original hole?
Very nice chassis and thanks for the information on the disc brake swap!

Colin,

Is it the nice red one with a black vinyl roof? Buy it, if it's not, buy it anyway.

Bernard,

Re using this on pre-M's ....an issue that was raised in developing these was, the wishbone is not strong enough, and a cross-brace is added to the wishbone to stop the torque twisting under braking that the calipers cause (NOTE ..ANY 'M' with more than 190BHP should have the wishbones looked at for this next point having happened). I found that the wishbones, having twisted AND taken a set, this is caused by power related feedback from modern tyres, having twisted the wishbone one way and that the new brakes were equally capable of twisting the wishbones the other way..NOT GOOD. The solid disc system gets 1 cross-brace (or ARB mounting bracket as in John's) and the vented kit gets a second cross-brace (again as in John's). The Grantura/Vixen 2 piece wishbone and alloy carrier is not up to this kind of use IMHO.

Adrian,
I'll be chasing upward of 500 flywheel HP through my M's rear suspension. Are you saying the rear lower wishbones are not up to the task without additional reinforcing?
Thanks,
Bernard.

That's right....They are twisting with on ignition retarded Turbo's (190 bhp).

A comment....... On, poly bushing rear out board pivots pins, 3 times this week I have seen that the tophat style poly bushes have been destroyed by owners not understanding that IF these are used, they will not self centre (like the rubber bushes do) and that they need to packed centrally within the lower wishbone with washers (that is additional one to the required ones that abutt the alloy casting) or else they are able to pull through. Today on one car, where the customer had use a small washer against the outside of the bush (because it was all he could find) the pivot bar had rotated backwards and the nut was in the eyelet of the wishbone!
