TVR 3000M rear axel
Discussion
Hi A & thanks J...In 30 yeas I have only had I Jag diff fail...and 2 others had loose front pinion nuts, that at first, I thought had failed (remove the propshaft to check). Mostly these would have noises transmitted from the wheel bearings and driveshafts....Arnaud If you or a mechanic can, remove the wheel, drum screws, release the brake shoe adjuster, then through the flange release the 6 nuts that hold the bearing onto the alloy casting and undo the halfshaft centre boot AND remove the bearing/1st UJ and outer half shaft from the car, leaving the brakes in place. Then check the bearing by spinning the outer housing with no load, check this spining freely and with no roughness. Check both sides, rebuild in the reverse order and release the hand brake cable before adjusting the shoes, then adjust in the centre of the car if needed. I have taken for granted that the diff has been checked!
