Tyres 185/70/15

I am struggling to find any tyres in above size. people like Longstone want me to sell my house to buy 4 mediocre covers. All i can find are Vredestein, Fulda and Goodyears (£1000 a set !!!). Anyone know of anything which would suit my old Granny. Dont want anything that will last 40000 miles, more happy with grip

mytyres.co.uk have Vredestein Sprint Classics at £63 and Fulda Y2000s at £75.40 in that size. Not sure what they are like as far as grip goes, but they're not asking £1000 a set

Blackcircles have these listed, this is the price for 2 fitted, not that much cheaper though.

That was quick. I have an account with both my tyres and black circles but would prefer something a bit more grippy. Michelins XWX were not that good when they were current and £850 a set is extracting the urine. May have to go 185/65/15 but they look a bit "modern" on an old car.

I went yoko 195 / 65 / 15 on the vixen which give you a little more tyre wall at the expense of a little more compliant roll. (this may be what you want Steve) ironically the 195 profile was cheaper. it may be a little bit closer to the bottom pins though and require a spacer. It does look more modern though. spend the money tight arse. you must get 50k miles out of a set, you hardly go out in it. Are you at rock?

I had the same problem when searching for tyres for my vixen S2.

The quotation I had from vintage tyres was to say the least eye watering, although they did have some very nice road/race Dunlops which were tempting despite the price.

I eventually settled for some Uniroyals from my local BMTR depot at a reasonable £ 55 each for 185 65 15`s

I would suggest you shop around all of your local suppliers as it is sometimes surprising what they have in stock.

A word of warning though, always check the date code on stocked tyres as I know of someone who bought a set which were 10 yrs old!!

Thanks Peter. Avon 0% grip rubbish £702.65 set. Michelin XWX £860 set and Vredesteins £480 a set... The car isn't worth that much. I am not being mean but these tyres are not that good and I can buy much better but not that good 185/65/15's for £22.80 each including vat. Fulda Y2000's look the best bet but they do go hard after a few years. Guess I'll just have to drive the car more and wear them out before they go off. Would really like some Yoko's or Toyo's. How things change, I am wanting Japanese tyres to fit on my Granny
