Hi All,

i would be interested in knowing what could be today "market price" for either a griffith 200 or 400 "road" version?

Any view as well in the diffrence, if any, between cars you may find in the US and the one available in UK?

IMHO there is no market value for either ....if you want to own one the market value is what ever the price is on that day...1st you have to find one for sale (preferably that has not been plastered around the internet) and have the funds ready to pay the sellers price. (Mind you whilst you are, checking the originality out I'm sure the racing boys will be in there). Adrian@

I brought one in from the US 4 years ago; it was worth doing then as the exchange rate was about 1.85. I doubt whether it is cheaper to import one now - don't forget the taxes. On the other hand you are unlikely to find a roadgoing one (as opposed to a race one) in Europe.

The last road one I know of went for £52,000

This onehas sold quite recently. If I remember correctly, it was advertised at arround $60K.

2 road griffth have been sold recently in Belgium ( coming from Mike Abbas in UK for 1 perhaps the 2 ?) for 50K€ and 60K€( asking price!!), and some restoration work to do on the 2 cars.

Depends what you car a Road version smile

Mine will be "driven" on the road.

Hands are tied smile More post 31 March 2011.

It might even look like a car again by then (proper engine and box now in wink).

That AIN'T a Griff! The seller knows this (as you can figure out from the blurb - he has been peddling this for some time.

Shows how dodgy the fia is when the owner is / was an fia scrutineer!

It ia a Granny with a 289 fitted much later (not the same at all hence all that twaddle about if you want a properly authenticated on that came from the US, i.e. it did not - the people that know about these things know). There are ALOT of cars perporting to be real Griffs wink

If it's the real thing why do you think it is sooo cheap? That's not much more than a half decent Grantura

If it's the real thing why do you think it is sooo cheap? That's not much more than a half decent Grantura
It isn't quite as simple as that since their were some chassis tweaks, The biggest issue on this car however is that it has a chassis number?? Some phantom cars were built by a band of renegades when the factory was going through turbulent times, Some bits of cars were also spirited away. non of these cars though had a chassis number following a griffith sequence!!

Me thinks this particular trader who should know better is taking the piss somewhat!!

as a Grantura MK3 though it still has some nice intrinsic value?

Lowry "Should know better" - but clearly could not give a rats ass about Griff authenticity - FIA Scrutineers - says it all for me.

Oh and for the reord there was never a Griff numbered 200-1-Anything!! He does not even know that much!!!!

All Griffs are 200-5-*** 400-5_*** and 400-6-***

GRrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

Mind if you are stupid enough to buy it!!!

I'm going back a few years but after I p/ex'd my 200 I think it was on the forecourt for £26K. No idea if it actually went for that. (Insurance valuation was actually £40K but obviously that's not indicative of market value)

If its the LHD car I think it is, I had the cahnce to buy it for £15K a few years ago, but thought it was expensive (but only based on the fact it was twice the cost of my last Griffith!!)
