I trailered mine out of there three years ago. There were rumors of a few. Are you a club member?

Best,
B.

Hi, tanks for responding. I joined the TVR CC NA last year, but there is not much going on around Chicago.
I was hoping to drive to some events - did not work yet, those are mostly far away too.

A unique car in a big city is pretty cool, I like TVR`s because there are not too many around, who wants to follow the crowd eh ? smile

Not much if anything TVR specific, but lots of car stuff in the summer. SuperCar Saturdays, classic car shows all over the place. Just google Chicago car clubs or shows.

One day I aim to get my Tuscan over, just not sure what engine to use in it. LS3 is the obvious choice but you might as well just buy a corvette. Maybe a tweaked AJ6 supercharged Jag engine would make a nice change and still fly under the EPA's radar.

Either way, would love to see a TVR on the streets of Chicago, and I live very close to where you took that picture. smile

Yeah.. where are you located?
I am making the TVR's popular in Chicago again! Going to all the places a TVR should drive!
There a Triumph club and Italian car club, I know there are quite active. Have to make it to some events.
Currently the car is in a very good condition and I just drive it, but I do worry a bit where to get stuff soon, like a clutch, brakes, suspension parts.. What is the LS3 ? In Germany a good engine was the V8 from Rover.

You should keep an eye out for the annual TVRCCNA meet.
This year it was at the Carlisle PA fairground and will be the same next year.
The guys are a great bunch and will point you in the right direction for all of your spares needs.

Hi Dave, should I start saving to buy your S6 engine off you ? I'm sure it will be in good nick.

You might want to try hooking up with FUELFED, google them, they are the original sponsors of the Coffee & Classics that are held in downtown Winnetka, IL the last Sunday of each month during the warm months. There also a Barrington, IL Coffee & Classics at the Foundary mid-month Sunday. Both start at 8:30am til 11:00am European classics only, 1980 and older cars. Some TVR's show up, Vixens, Griffiths, M series, 3000S. No For Sale Signs.

Thank you - I went to Winnetka twice and met the owner of the beautiful red Vixen. I also met a gentleman from Barrington at the British Car Festival at Harper Collage last year.
So far, no one in Chicago though, maybe one day.

Thanks & greetings.

Are you planning on attending this year's British Union car festival at Harper College? Unless the weather is wet, there should be a 3000S attending and maybe the Griffith 200 series (the red car?) will be back? This has been one of the worst summers on record, rain virtually almost every weekend. Makes attending these outings a real bath and for me quite literally. My car is far from water tight. Hope to see your TVR in either Winnetka, Barrington, or at Harper's College.

Yes, I intend to be at British Union car festival at Harper College on Sept.19th, but also I might be able to get out to Winnetka on 30th. I am quite sure both TVR's and owners I met earlier will be be at Harper College.
My car (currently) does not leak, I am quite happy about it. That does not mean that I like to drive it the rain..
What are you driving?

Greetings

I plan to be there weather permitting, I have a TVR 3000S, US colour translation (British Racing Green) original Essex V6, modified. Fun car, and some very helpful PM members helped me sort out my water temp gauge reading. I look forward to meeting you there.

Please recheck your date, I just looked at the British Car Union website, the date of the event is September 13, 2015, not the 19th.

New to the forum and first time TVR owner. Just bought the Taimar that has been advertised on TVRCCNA for the last couple months. It's being transported from Idaho to southeastern Wisconsin as I type this. Interested in getting to know some TVR people and possibly getting together for some events. Sounds like you have some shows in the suburbs; we have British Car Field Days near Milwaukee and I'm a huge fan of the vintage car events at Road America in Elkhart Lake. It was talking to a Griffith Series 200 driver this fall at Road America that gave me the bug to look for a TVR. All of the TVRCCNA events are farther than I am interested in traveling. Maybe we could get a small group out of a more reasonable geographic area.

Congratulations, and welcome to the club! Taimar is a great car! Please send some pictures and details of it, I have not seen any other Taimar in US yet - except for pictures of one for sale in CA.
If there are still events this year and the weather is OK, I would drive to meet other TVR owners. 2-3 hrs. is the range for me... unless, something really significant, over a weekend or so.
Milwaukee is definitely in this range.
I have been to a few events this summer, the best was the British Car show at Harper College just few weeks ago.
2 other TVR owners were there, both owned the 3000S, one converted to V8.
I now realize, that I have been communicating with one of the owners - SquashedCat - about the event, but we have missed each-other at the event.
Well, hope to hear soon from you, perhaps we can meet for a chat.
Are there still any events you are planning to attend?

Hi OKinChi
Thanks for replying so quickly. I think the car event season here is pretty much done. The weather gets so iffy that no one schedules anything. I'll probably use the winter to square away little issues you always find on a new to you car.

No dates are posted yet for the events I mentioned but the approximate dates are:
Field Days 3rd Sunday in June.

Vintage/Historic racing at Road America are: 3rd weekend in May; 3rd weekend in July; 3rd weekend in Sept. July is the biggest (and most expensive).

There are pictures and description of the Taimar I bought currently listed in the TVRCCNA classified ads section.

I'll definitely plan on the Harper College event next fall. You should really try to get to one of the races; its sort of what these cars are all about.

I currently am recovering from a health concern but in a month or two I'd love to get together and talk. We could probably find somewhere midway and have a late breakfast or lunch.

I have seen the pictures - very nice car. It looks like it would be in a very much original condition.
My VIN is 4057FM, so round 300 cars apart. I see different radiator in yours, so probably no overheating issues.
