Me and a friend are going to knock up a copy of the Griff/Chim polished alloy roof struts/stays.

Was wondering whether anyone else would be interested in a pair if they come out well, going to try and get them as close to original as possible.

We think with time, materials and tooling they would be about £200 which I think is less than originals?

Thoughts?

I'd be interested; are you planning to make them adjustable in length or fixed?

The wedge roof stays are different to the griff/chim ones (steel rectangular tube vs solid(?) aluminium); I don't know if they are interchangeable, maybe someone can confirm?

You can fit Griff/Chim stays to a Wedge. I used to have a set on a previous Wedge and have also bought a second hand set to fit to my current Wedge but haven't fitted them yet. I believe the only difference is the lower hole on the Wedge body needs to be altered to a different position. They look so much better in aluminium.

I think the Wedge and the S share the same box section stays.

The Grief / Chimp ali stays fit and work on the S with the simple mod of drilling a lower hole in the rear bulkhead. I think TVR fitted black anodised versions of the Grief / Chimp stays to the last interations of the V8S and S4.

In regards to the length they will be the same length as the box section one I currently have.

You might want to post up in the S forum too. If they are going to be the same dimensions as the box section items then you may find a few over there interested.

Put me in for a set - I've had them on a prior wedge and they look much tidier. The mounting holes don't perfectly line up, but if they're being machined for a wedge then perhaps the length can be made to match?

Couldn't you just nick some off a Chim? If you replaced the Chim's one with solid bars that didn't fold, the owner would never notice anyway...
