I never found the Griffith rear lights spot on and like them as much as the rest of the design.
Thinking of swapping them for these (see 2nd pic) (sorry fo the bad photoshop but you'll get the idea)
Does it look better ?

Thanks Ronald

As with all things to do with taste, some will say yes, many will say no. Bit too 'Max Power' for me.

I don't normally like the 'Lexus Lights' look but I quite like those..

A long time ago in a Galaxy far far away. Or something.
I fitted these to my last Griff in about 2003 - Lexus style but nowhere near as subtle as what you're suggesting.
I think I prefer the standard Cavalier lights now, smoked GSi spec if possible.
I must be getting old - either that or the Griff is turning classic smile

@andy43:
Those were the ones i wanted, as they look great on a black griff, but they can't be sourced anymore.

Would smoking the existing light covers to a dark tint be an option..?

Thats what I have fitted.. somehow on a red car the original ones blended in.. where as these look good IMO. I also have smaller spots on the front turned from ali to match the round housing design... not everyones taste but make it differant... and easily changed back smile

Hmm, the red lights on a dark body do stand out somewhat. As previously suggested a darker tint might work well.

The Lexus style (or the SE come to think of it) lights aren't my cup of tea.

Unfortunately I ebayed my Lexus set after I wrote my Griff off in 2005 - very rare to see them for sale now.
Even the smoked Cav GSi lenses are getting rare.
My Jap Griff has standard Cavalier non-smoked lenses - don't look as good as the GSi ones.

Definitely a NOOOO from me too! Standard definitely best for such a key part of the car.

Sorry, I vote for the Cavalier lights I'm afraid. it just sort of looks 'right'. The Griff is a really good looking car, I've got nothing against changing some of the mechanical bits to make it work better but changing the looks is a no-no for me. I never liked the SE changes but accept that they do command a rarity value.

Has anybody thought about getting a limited run of rear lights done?

All personal taste. Pete

If you can get them the GSi lights have a slight smoke to them, my car is dark grey and has these fitted. However, they are VERY hard to obtain now.

When I repaired mine 12 years ago I finally found some smoked ones which I was told were the originals. When I compared a fragment of the originals they were not smoked. The Griff was 10 years old with 26k on the clock with no previous damage so I guess maybe both were used.

Both were used. The standard ones were standard and the smoked ones were an option, AFAIK.
The smoked rear were usually used in combination with smoked front light lens covers.

I have the std ones for mine... may re-fit them..... don't think the GSi ones would do much on a red car.. anyone got and pic?...
