It was originally advertised at £6995 on flea but didn't sell so they've dropped the price. It certainly was very well sorted by Glen with new outriggers done by David Gerald and upgraded brakes.

This car UIAVMM was on ebay last year, for sale in Redcar. The vendor, a really nice guy was actually into MGBs and was V8ing one.
He bought the Wedge but didn't get on with it. It had a boot spoiler with a crack in it, a crack in the front wing and the clutch pedal was sitting a lot higher than brake and accelerator. Interior trim was average.
His first "winner" was a guy in Saudi who wanted him to send the car over for inspection
His second "winner" was someone in Italy who never made contact.
He eventually sold it to someone "down south" presumably the current vendor.
I went to have a look at it in Redcar but decided against it as it just didn't look a very good example and needed too much work.
It sold for around £3000 IIRC
Of course it may be a different car with the numberplate swopped.....

Just because it's advertised at £6500 doesn't mean he will sell it at that. Still looking at the trend I think I should cash in the pensions, hire a barn and fill it with TVR's of all flavours. I'll pass that by the wife this evening. argue

It might sound far fetched but that is exactly what people have been doing with other classics. Lotus, MG, Fords but to name a few. Here is the thing, you need sheltered space like a barn or a big shed. It seems the condition of the car is immeterial, as these days, if it's a rare car, they'll buy any rubbish at any price. I remember a time years ago standing at a car auction when they brought in an e-type roadster in driving condition and it sold for £300. At the time preople used to refer to them as the most undesirable, gas guzzling ugly cars. Look at them now changing hands for over 100k. So yes, it could well be worth cashing in the pension. But, here is a word of warning, prices can go up as well as down. If the classic car market crashes, as it has done once before, you could burn your fingers.

This is my personal opinion...

Its been said that the Wedge is a cheap way of owning a slice of British hand-built classic sports car history....That may be true but these cars just like any others need regular fettling and as we all know the cost of maintenance can easily spiral out of control...Most of the time we are ruled by "Heart over head"..Which may well be impractical but without the love these cars would not survive and the numbers would soon drop to below 20 and so then the value will go through the roof.

Unfortunately a lot of Wedges are badly maintained or sold from pillar to post down to owners not knowing what they are doing or understanding the basics of simple maintenance, The cars then get bodged and passed on.

Then i see people buy these cars cheap..Spend a bit of money, Normally just to make it look better rather than to run better and then try to sell for a high premium..Most have got their fingers burnt which makes me chuckle..

What Glen has done has brought a ratty ill maintained Wedge and sorted it out to a level of good usability..Its a good price as you can pay this much for a Wedge in the state prior to the work carried out only to be faced with the daunting prospect of rotten outriggers..And bodged engine parts...Some people should just steal clear of these cars..Full stop!

If there were hundreds of E-Types running about then the value would probably be more affordable for people who could never afford them in the beginning ..Now they definitely can't.

When i fell in love with wedges they were film stars money as they were new out and i eventually gave up my dream of owning one ...However 30 years later i can and I'm still on cloud9 6 years later...Even if i win the lottery tonight i would have a Wedge in my classic car collection...Probably just the 660 SEAC which would be fitted with the original engine built to high spec...(If its still around) or a serious LS conversion which would nestle nicely between my C-Type....D-Type...Fiat 8V...Cisitalia 202 Gran Sport..2000 Sportiva...Lamborghini Contact LP400...Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB Competizione...And a Zonda just for a bit of track day fun...If i have any money left....whistle

So lets just enjoy these cars while we are here and keep them in a condition suitable for the next generation to also enjoy...

Viva la TVR....Viva la Wedge....
