Anyone fitted Carnewal remote PSE switch?
Discussion
I'm considering one of these for my 997.1 which has PSE. I don't particularly like the way it cuts out between around 30-50mph. I have been doing loads of research and the simple option that seems very popular is to pull out the connector from the vacuum actuator, which results in "loud" sound permanently, including at 30-50mph, but also rendering the dashboard switch inoperative. Unfortunately that is not really an option for me as I often leave for work at 0300, in the dead of the night. I don't think the neighbours would appreciate my PSE as much as I do! Plus I'd probably wake up the whole house due to the garage being built into the house and directly below the master bedroom!! My wife loves Porsches but I don't think even she would appreciate the early morning wake up. (When we had a Cayman, on my days off when I had a lie in, and she used the Cayman, I never minded hearing the roar of the Cayman firing up just below me, those first 20-30 seconds from cold were just awesome).
So I could still do with some kind of switching, which is what this Carnewal kit seems to offer...

They also do a remote control kit but it's nearly 3 times the price and I'd be more than happy with a switch somewhere in the cabin.
Has anyone had any experience of fitting or using either of these kits?
Thanks, Phil

Fitted this and does what it says on the tin.
10 minute job and gives the option to switch on or off the valves at a press of the button.
Fitting a Sharkwerks Exhaust Bypass is the next job.

Thanks, but I'm a little confused. Do you know the difference/benefit over the switch kit that I put a link to? I see there's also a similar switch kit with a remote control, but still different to the one in your link???10 minute job and gives the option to switch on or off the valves at a press of the button.

The remote kit is 175 Euro, as per link above. The kit looks nice and comes with fitting instructions. Just needs plugging in and earthing somewhere. I haven't fitted it as I'm not convinced the Gen 2 has the speed cutout.
Just read this on another forum....There is no cut-off (i.e. valves closing) on the 997.2 PSE. Porsche added a third silencer (a.k.a. center silencer) which keeps the noise level within regulations all the time and eliminated the need for a cut-off. Hence the quieter sound from the 997.2 compared to the 997.1.

this one - with the remote - with shipping it cost about £150... more than worth it to get rid of the noise cutout!

I've removed the third silencer and fitted the Sharkwerks.
You will find people that feel the Gen 2 has the cutout and a fairly equal number that say it doesn't. One day I'll wire up an LED to check it.
I asked the guys at Sharkwerks this very question (thinking they are likely to know if anyone outside of Porsche does) and they replied that the valves do indeed open and close depending on rpm, etc on the 997.2.You will find people that feel the Gen 2 has the cutout and a fairly equal number that say it doesn't. Hi,
Would any 996 owners be interested in a control box for after market switchable exhausts that uses the Porsche switch?
I'm thinking of fitting switch-able exhausts to my 996 and want the oem look. The circuit is easy to make and could easily be designed so that the default power on status can be set to loud or quiet.
Any thoughts?

I had this in my 7.2 RS and together with a third cat bypass pipe it was the perfect way to keep my neighbours happy until I was sufficiently down the road...
Si please and good modification. Also OPC had no issues with it as I had three sets of extended warranty inspections approved with it fitted. Never once mentioned to me.
