I've been receiving calls for a 'Mr Mohammed'.

Although registered with TPS for my mobile, I still get these.

I've tried blocking the number each time and then get a call from a slightly different number.

If I try and ask for my details to be removed they hang up on me before I finish.

Normally this would not wind me up as much but I'm getting called about 4 times a day.

The last call came from 07446 225480 _ oversees but if you try and call back get a recorded message saying not available.

A few web searches appear to suggest it's a scam regarding identity theft.

Anyone else having the same problem and have you found a way to solve permanently blocking them?

I don’t answer any calls from unrecognised numbers. If it’s anyone genuine they can leave a voicemail and I get back to them. If they don’t leave a message, I will Google the number to see who it was. Nine times out of ten it will be a spam call – number is then blocked.

I'm blocking each one but keep receiving them with one digit difference in the number.

Tell them to remove them from your databases
If they call you again you will charge them £20 each time.
They will soon stop.

All you can really do is ignore the call and block. If you answer they mark you as an active number and you will continue to receive calls. They are most likely based offshore so any legal threats you make will be ignored.

This, along with Google and block. I never call these numbers either, just incase they're premium rate etc. I never put my mobile in online applications, comparison sites etc either. (or my main email address, as you're pretty much inviting the waves of spam that come thereafter).

Download and install "Truecaller" .... chances are that you will not be the only one they call and so their number will be on the database and you`ll never get bothered again.

Good shout. I did this and my spam calls have dwindled to maybe one a month at most.

Yep, a bit of search reveals there are loads of people suffering the same issue.

Thanks for the tip on the app. May check out similar ones as there is mixed feedback on Truecaller.

Yep, Truecaller is excellent for vetting calls.

Try and hold them in nonsense conversation for as long as possible. A mate at work gets them to hang up by saying things like " I'm so glad you called I've been sitting at home in the dark for two days looking at this big bottle of pills" or you could try getting the talk onto what type/colour of underwear they are wearing and would they like to come round to your house for some fun and games[works best if caller is same sex as you]

'Should I answer' app will sort this. Used to get a lot of spammy calls and now they get auto rejected.
Just checked and amongst the many settings there is one to reject foreign calls also.

Zapping is tiresome, set it up on your PC a whitelist and reject all withhold calls. If you have friends that withhold you can give them a VIP PIN number

Thanks for the tip. I was so hacked off with calls about PPI, scrapping my windows and Christ knows what else that I thougt I'd splash out. I unerstand there's a subscription for the PC control panel but I can give it a try if I get fed up of zapping. That said, I think there might be a psychological reward in zapping, knowing the tt in question will never be able to call again as long as the machine's connected!

Thanks again, learning fast here laugh There's only one kosher international caller (relative in Oz). Re withheld calls (get loads) but I get calls from the hospital so I could give out the PIN there too.

It seems a little intrusive and why does it need your mobile number?
