Real shame they will not be at Silverstone. What looking forward to seeing them.

Yes a Shame that there is not enough interest as we were looking forward to taking the GT2 out for a run.
Paul Ricard it is then.

Well it looks like they're undeterred by the complete lack of interest.

I can't really speak French but got the link from another forum. They said it means the original three behind the BPR series are getting behind a proper revival as it's the 20th anniversary of the first BPR series.

It's apparently known that Patrick Peter is one of the best people in Europe for organising classic race events so maybe it'll work out better.

Really doubt it though.

Patrick Peter is behind Classic LM, Pau Historique and CER. I like the concept of this but not sure yet where it fits into the historic racing landscape - look what a battle it's been retaining Group C grids.

Attended with the Lotus Esprit GT1 to the BPR 'reunion' at Paul Ricard circuit at weekend - some lovely cars and of course the Lotus was the most 'original' BPR car there, but some other nice machinery about, Porsche GT1, Maclaren F1 and F1 long tail versions etc...

The group C cars were the highlight of a great weekend - not that busy with spectators which was a shame.
Bit like a mini Le mans Classic - needs to have improved advertising in future.

stunning car, and I tried to tell people on the thread! Shame they couldn't have had you there the weekend before for the final ELMS round, there was a good crowd there and they would have appreciated seeing the cars

I was amazed at the lack of crowds - they say 10000 over the three days but the ease of getting close up to the 60's and 70;s cars was unreal compared to even the Classic!
And as for just going in and out of the pit garages looking close up to group C cars (Porsche/Nissan/Jag and Sauber)must have been surreal for some spectators!

Would consider this a must for any classic endurance enthusiast.

Amazing to see it like that. Is this the one that was the GT2 car returned back to original spec or is it the spare one that was for sale by the guy who restored the Elise GT1 road car?

Any chance you're sticking the 'V8' stickers on too?

I really hope some of the F1 GTR owners restore their cars to their original liveries rather than have them as the default LM lookalike Papaya Orange. Or just have more owners of BPR cars restore them and enjoy them on track like you guys did this weekend.

Its the GT1 car that was converted to GT2(all 3 were) and then converted to participate in Le Mans (2000?) by Pilbeam (red in colour) but unfortunately failed scrutineering so failed to start.
Only small changes are needed to revert it back to GT1 - but there are no original drawings or anything relating to the car so we are all trying to remember how it was put together 17 years ago....

The V8 stickers were due to be fitted but unfortunately the sign writer cocked up on sizing/colour so Peter (owner) decided not to fit them to the sides. (we finished the car Thursday morning about 2 a.m before leaving for Eindhoven to meet Mike Hezemans and look at his wall art! and then drive down to Ricard - long drive!)

The Harrods Maclaren was there - but had been converted to road going spec (taxed!) as I believe its worth more as a road car than a race car - and there's nothing it can be raced in anyway - so conversion is understandable.
There are moves afoot to launch a revival BPR series (again) hopefully it will happen but who know's? If it did happen - then we would look at trying to get the Lotus involved - but racing ain't cheap!

Any chance the Lotus is going to be at Silverstone Classic?

From the press release it looks like there'll be a good few cars on display.

"90s GT Legends
Evocative GT cars from the 1990s will be making their first appearance at the Silverstone Classic with an all-new grid planned for this year’s event. More than 40 blockbuster machines are expected from an era that included the McLaren F1, Lister Storm, Porsche 911 GT1, Chrysler Vipers and many more. These stupendous cars will be in action both on all three days, giving fans plenty of opportunity to see them at flat out speeds. "

The Playstation 911 GT1 and Oreca Viper were also at Silverstone this week, and there's a possibility if having a Marcos LM 600 at Silverstone Classic.

Excellent stuff. Shame there's no actual race series but at least the cars are getting run and getting out so people can see them.

Hunter, did you ever say which team/s ran your 993's? Would be interesting to see the liveries.

Yes sorry about the delay , White one was the Bert Longin car AD Motorsport , did 2 Daytonas , won Zolder 24h and I think 3 rd in Spa 24h as well as Belgian GT Championship I think in 99 . This Silver One was made for Porsche Australia by Porsche AG motorsport for their GT championship but rule change led to little running . We will be bringing a Daytona Class wining 993 RSR ( Alex Job racing ) as well.
