Having not seen the British GT's for a couple of years, a trip to Oulton Park on Easter Monday seemed like a good way to finsih off a long weekend. Well, at least the racing didn't disappoint...but the weather was something else...

1. Race 1 start. The United Autosports Audi R8 LMS leads the charge towards "Old Hall"...it would lead right up until the final lap when a fuel supply problem forced a retirement.

2. The pack heads into "Old Hall".

3. Nothing but a wall of spray at "Cascades".

4. I had to throw an Aston Martin in somewhere...

5. The Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 took the Race 1 win after the Audi broke down..

6. The new GT4 Lotus Evora being stalked by the (almost) unbeatable R8.

7. The weather went from bad to ridiculously bad for the start of the 2nd GT race. Somewhere out there is a Nissan GT-R...

8. And the prize for the best sounding car of the day went to the Mercedes SLS.

Just want to say what a great season opener that was. Great racing and well done to all the drivers in those conditions...only one short safety car period in race 1 is something to be proud of. We go there to watch racing and that's exactly what you gave us.

The BGT series looks like it's going from strength to strength looking at the size of the field compared to three years ago and by the quality of drivers that it's now attracting. smile

Fantastic to see five Porsche GT3Rs in the field this year....but I freely admit to being biased about that. biggrin

p.s. Great pics fellas thumbup

If you'd like a hi-res copy drop me a PM. I can check to see if I've any more of the G50 for you as well if you'd like.

Great pictures. Still can't believe how wet it got in that 2nd race! I was in the 32 Porsche, on the grid it didn't look that bad. I guess the heavens opened just as we got going! I thought I was going to cause a safety car as my TC and ABS failed on the formation lap, only ended up hitting a tyre stack during my stint (hence the damage on our front right)!

You showed some great pace in the wet Joe. A pleasure to watch you race. thumbup

You'll be able to watch yourself as TV highlights will be on Channel 4 at 7.25 am, this Saturday (21st April).

Very impressive job by all you guys, Joe. It's a tribute to the quality of driving throughout the field that both races transpired with so little incident. The 911s looked well hooked up in the wet - how was it out there as a driver?

Cheers boxsey, I always aim for style over speed. Thanks for the heads up just set the sky+ for 7.25am which is clearly prime time TV, it is a bit early for the day off.

Chevronb37 yeah makes the series look good compared to the top British race series... No exaggeration for the first 5 laps all I could see was the rain light of the car ahead. No idea where the circuit was, just hoping the car at the front of the train knew where he was going. I told the team on the radio not to expect the car to make the pitstop to which they responded "You've just done the fastest lap"
