Was at Spa 3 weeks ago for the WEC & there was a strong rumour that this meeting was going to become a 3 day event to assist drivers involved in the Le Mans Test to be able to do both rather than have miss one or the other. Have emailed Silverstone but, (sadly, as usual!!) not received a reply and there is still no event timetable available that I have been able to find. Would really appreciate it if anyone could provide some confirmation or a timetable link.

Not sure how adding a day would help - both the race and test day would still be on the Sunday (unless they are suggesting racing on the Monday!)

As far as I'm aware, it's still two days.

Do you know if they use the old or new pit lane?

Also do they have pit lane walkabouts?

Many people going to this? Actually, are many people likely to be there at all? Thought it would make for a cheap weekend in the sun (hopefully) so booked tickets and camping, but no idea if we'll have a whole campsite to ourselves...

Also, any tips on the best places to view at Silverstone? Grandstands are open so we can go wherever. Think we're camping by Stowe, if that helps.

I doubt all the grandstands will be open, they normally look at spectator numbers and work out how many to open, as each one needs security/stewards.

I think they are using the Old pits & there will probably only be a couple of grandstands open - opposite the pit straight & one of the ones near Brooklands would be my guess. Don't expect too many loos or catering places to be open either. The cars will be great though!!

That's ok it's a chance for me to try out the new camera before the gp.
Do you know if you get to look around the pits or just the paddock?

last time they came to silverstone, the super trofeos used the new pits and paddock

paddock was totally open. you had to be a bit cheeky to access the pits wink

I am hoping I can make Sunday.

Likely I am taking one of my kids with me so will likely end up most of the time trying to find spiders or any form of insects like last year at the fia GT round. D'oh.

If you have a supercar and fancy coming along to this on Saturday drop me a line. We have paddock parking and pit passes available. All complimentary.

super trofeo et al were for some not-too-obvious reason demoted back to the crappy old pits today

it was like stepping back thirty years

shame on silverstone frown

i for one won't be too surprised if the super trofeo series gives silverstone a miss next year

must admit it was little disappointing yesterday, silverstone was deserted no crowds, no pit walk about lunchtime session, and nearly all the garages closed so you couldnt get close to the cars

lots of nice kit in the form of the lorries with expensive setups and some sporty roading going cars in the paddock area

It'd be the cost of using the old vs new pits, and their inaccesability, iirc last year nearly everyone working in the Wing/pits were very unhapy about the access (I certainly was)

so the cost of actually using bernie's new pits is prohibitively high, putting even lamborghini's premiere series back in the second division ?

Last year i the only racing i watched with the new pits was f1 and motogp, btcc and bsbk all used the old pits.
