This old thread might be worth ressurecting ,i started it ages ago in attempt to form some sort of register.
I've been intending to update it (and repair the broken links) for about the last three years, but too much time mauling with the bloody things means i've not got round to it yet ..

One problem with the old thread is that lots of cars I think were recorded several times as they've been owned by several owners. Really you want for each car: Year of build, original owner, other owners, current owner, any known race numbers and years they held that number, maybe some details such as livery so you can identify them in the pics that inevitably turn up out of the woodwork. Arranged by year of build I'd reckon?
You'll never make it as simple as year of build. I couldn't have told you the year of build of any of the 4 Tuscan chassis I've owned:
Chassis 1: ex Britnell brothers, raced by Dave Bartum (of Motorbase BTCC), then me in the 2003 and 2004 Tuscan Challenge, bought by Graham and Rover engine installed. A bit like Trigger's broom its had pretty much a new everything over the years, except the chassis itself. No idea of original build date
Chassis 2: New build for Phil Keen for the 2004 Tuscan Challenge on a secondhand chassis - may have been the ex Richard (now Rachael!) Finney, 'Findus' sponsored car? Raced by me 2005-2007, then Sam Head, then Jamie Golby, now Dean Cook? Still AJP
Chassis 3: Ex Colin Blower. Who immediately stripped and rebuilt it with a lightweight (non factory) bodyshell. Original factory build unknown. Raced by Lee Caroline 2002, 2003 and 2004 (championship winner in the last 2 years). Raced by me once in 2007. Bought by Owen O'Neill who ignored all advice and painted it green, whereupon it was comprehensively destroyed and caught fire. Bits bought by Mike Saunders....
Chassis 4: Raced by Phil Keen in the 2003 Tuscan challenge, raided for parts for Chassis 2. Bought by me as a bare chassis and built into a Sagaris V8 car with an AJP for 2007 an LS6 for 2008/9 and an LS3 for 2009 to date.
You can see the difficulties in keeping track of them - either as complete cars or even as chassis....

...and that can lead to several people claimimg ownership of the same car as the "best" cars with a strong/winning history sell the easiest.
There are several of Flux' championship winning car.
Cars from the same stable were mixed and matched to get the best car with the best driver.
Best chassis would be completely rebuilt over the winter with lightest body strongest engine, freshest diff / 'box etc etc. Or the lightest body would go on a new chassis and the older one rebodied with some bits to build a drive for someone with a lower budget. (mine's Chassis 30 from the factory - rebuilt with bits of Flux's and Whiticker's cars from what I've found.
As andy says, keeping track of them is very difficult. There are a few original cars, but they tend to be the not so fast cars, with least running.
Now Steve Howard's involved again, a few more many but coming out of storage!

I was lucky enough to get my car with the original receipts and build spec and a good idea of history, races, drivers etc[8 races in total the last being Rockingham 09 by the previous owner]
From what we have found re-freshing the car not much has been changed with original engine seals etc still in place, and the ECU about half way through its race rev cycle.
I have some pictures of the car at Valalunga with Topcats and two other Tuscans that apparently destroyed the field of Porkies etc and where promptly banned!
It could only help to improve values if a more comprehensive view of the whereabouts and condition of existing Tuscans was available even if the car's full history was diluted due to re-builds etc.
As long as me and the car survive the Ring and Spa i hope to be out for my first race at Oulton and so starts the next chapter in it's life!
