Very unfortunate accident. Bens Tuscan blew its motor dumped oil and stopped. Owen went off on the oil and hit bens Tuscan . The impact was fuel bay to rear corner and tank ruptured. Everyone git out fine though.

The one job i have not got round to is changing to a bladdered tank, was this n old style fuel tank [as in non bladdered]??
How effective is the fire system in these cases? Is it more to do with giving the driver the time to get out as opposed to putting out the fire?
Must of been horrific watching your P&J go up in flames, glad no one was hurt.

Yes can we go back to the start! I wished I had not asked the question!

Its funny if I had asked this question on another forum the list would have been so simple, but with the way these cars are crashed rebuilt with a bit from here and there I can see its not going to be easy in fact near on impossable. With so few cars made you would think it was simple! So sorry for asking the question!

hehe around 50 built and a few hundred crashed !! some built from left over spares, some never actually built by the factory, some cars had different chassis, and others several bodies.

the shell on my car is composed of about 5 separate parts, not sure which bit it the most original ( definitely not the back) although I've only replaced the bonnet once it was replaced quite a few times before then hehe

There are also a few chassis floating about, not sure if these were spares or cars that have been broken. I've got one thats now a half built sag, Steve guest has one and Richard wright was selling one..

Its certainly not going to be an easy question but a quite interesting one. I do think th eplace to start is what we know exist now !!!

this is likely to turn into a trigges broom sort of topic with the number of shared parts and rebuilt cars around. Maybe try and focus on ones where people can categorically trace them back to an original TC car then go from there.

my car was Lee carolines as Ady said and is now with Mike Saunders. I believe Topcats are running Michael Caines car but not sure if it originally started with him.

No Probs just trying to get some history!
Seeing as you a few you could start by telling us about the history of your fleet?

Owen, thanks for that YHM

I was lucky enough to get my car with the original receipts and build spec and a good idea of history, races, drivers etc[8 races in total the last being Rockingham 09 by the previous owner]
From what we have found re-freshing the car not much has been changed with original engine seals etc still in place, and the ECU about half way through its race rev cycle.
I have some pictures of the car at Valalunga with Topcats and two other Tuscans that apparently destroyed the field of Porkies etc and where promptly banned!smile
It could only help to improve values if a more comprehensive view of the whereabouts and condition of existing Tuscans was available even if the car's full history was diluted due to re-builds etc.
As long as me and the car survive the Ring and Spa i hope to be out for my first race at Oulton and so starts the next chapter in it's life!
Was this your car (at Rockingham) ?

Hi all I am looking for some help in tracking down the Tuscan that was driven by Jeff Allum and won the championship in the first year.
Back in January 2012 I found some pictures on here in another thread [can no longer view the pictures??] of the car at a show somewhere in europe, it was in its original livery as it finished the season.
I was lucky enough to have spent all season looking after this tuscan and met up with my old team manager at the weekend, we are both very intrested in tracking down the car.
All information would be greatly appreciated

Smiudger - I think my late father raved this car in 1990; he defintely hired a Tuscan from Jeff and I can only assume it was Jeff's winning car, I'll ask him next time I see him.

The Yellow Tuscan was owned by David Gerald and run by Chris Schirle but was sold at the end of '89 (or start of '90) and converted into a two seater and still exists (can't remember the name of the chap who owns it though).
I beleive David Gerald had committed to run in the Challenge in '90 but didn't have a car and I'm not 100% sure how but Jeff rented his car to either DG or directly to my Dad.
If you speak to Jeff he will know all the details - I think at Donington (the Tuscans were supporting the BTCC) he took the car back forcibly due to unpaid rent for using it!!

I have been working out the history of the challenge cars based on my own photos and information from current owners.
Anyone got photos pre-2001 that they can send me to complete the job?
Any infomation on expired or stored cars would help too. Some of the existing racers are made up of parts from two or more others so it is getting more like a family tree. Any entry/competitor lists from 1989 to 2001 would also help the research.

Hugh should be able to help with a few between 1998 & 2001.
