Well done Darren i hope the penalty did not cause you to lose a place, anyone know why Tim retired? real shame as he was right up the sharp end although not sure why TSL think he drive a Salaris!

A pretty big oil fire caused by a (new) oil fitting failing and the ignited oil being fanned by 150mph wind into Tims air vent.
very scarey I'm sure, but I'm told both Tim and the car are ok. The car will refreshed again and tims eyebrows will grow back.

This is a copy of the thread I posted on the wwm tvrcc forum...

Well that was an eventful day....but not in a way that you would have wanted it to goUnhappy

Tim started well off the line and maintained fourth position, he defended his position well and was under pressure for the first 4-5 laps, but then started to extend his lead to around 2 secondsThumbs Up

All was looking good fourth place was there about 15 minutes into the race Tim was heading down hanger straight at about 150mph then it happened a new oil pipe fitting split showering the engine and frnt end in oil which caught fire, (the on board footage survived unlike the go-pro camera!) flames cover the front of the car and entered the the cabin through the air vents and windscreen ...you see tim slowing the car from 150mph and at the same time he is opening the drivers doors..within seconds the visiblity is zero.....he gets the car to a stand still...the extinguishers and marshalls save the car....but the engine and car are a mess....

Obviously the important thing is Tim got out ...his overalls did the job as did his helmet ....Ginny pointed out that his eye brows were singed Shocked a lucky chap!

Car being lifted back

We cleaned off the extinguisher powder and cleaned off the smoke from the body ...hopefully the engine will be OK and damage will be limited...

Shame could have been so different, but could have been far far worse

Obviously the car did not race in the third race.... Darren finished 12th in his 4.7 AJP in race two not sure how he did in the last one...

Visor up as you can just about see in the picture - hence the singed eyebrows
