Hi guys,

Been chatting to a couple of guys today at a friends funeral (Joe raced MGB V8s so fitting chatting about car stuff!!) And it was recommended that the filter be on the return side.

Currently the setup is tank, pump, FILTER, engine. Then sump, pump, cooler, tank. Setup Ive been recommended would see the filter between pump and cooler on return and no filter on the feed side.

Interested in thoughts and other peoples setups...

Ta in advance

Dave

Not sure I'm keen on that Dave. There would be no protection from bits of broken oil pump or crap out of the dry sump tank....

With the filter after the pump outlet the engine is fully protected.

Here is how mine is piped up (right or wrong, it works):

as on the FB reply, I have a filter on the engine supply, but Im thinking of a filter on the pump feed side in addition to the one before the engine.

when my car spun a main, I destroyed the pump with crap in the oil going through the hp stage.

Could you have 2 filters 1 to protect the engine, and another to protect the pump.

The challenge cars have guaze filters in the sump exits to protect the pumps.
but they don't work that well really.
you'd need 3 filters.
1 engine delivery (std)
2 scavenge
and there's alot if extra pipework to get those filters in the system too.
