Just noted on the OP website that there is a meeting this saturday which has a Future Classic Series race - apparently this has driver changes/pitstops and it says there is "a contingent of Tuscan Challenge cars" - if that is correct I might try and get down - so anyone know who is entered?/

There are 2 Tuscan Challenge RV8s (Dave Chant's and Darren Smith's) + my Griffith 500 at OP in Future Classics on Sat. I think Dave and Darren are doing single driver, but I'm sharing the 40 min race. Times are qualy 1010 and race 1450hrs. Come and see us in the paddock - hopefully all 3 cars will be together.

The race was more than 5 laps - one car blew its engine at island bend and then another slid off into the barriers on the oil (or so I was told). That resulted in a safety car then stop on the grid and after sorting out the correct order grid a restart for literally 7-8 mins. Result in the end was Darren 1st (his first win in Future Classics - excellent!!) and Dave C battling his way up the field to finish 4th - another lap and he would probably have been 2nd but there we are. A nice day.

With all three TVR's making to the end without recourse to the sweeping brush biggrin and Jim, Fred,Ivor, Graham in the paddocks giving us moral support it made a great day's racing. ETA special thanks should go to John Seery who made a great crotch strap adjuster on the pit stop hehe

John seemed to enjoy his roll as a crotch strap adjuster a little toooo much

Had a great day. Car wasn't set up properly for road tyres in qually and I just couldn't get my head around how road tyres were supposed to work around Oulton, hence starting 18th.

After a few adjustments the car felt much better. It was a bit traumatic starting mid pack but it soon opened up enabling me to pick them off one by one. We had a god pit stop which probably helped. I was gob smacked when I realised I was 6th before the restart. Got passed a couple of porkers to 4th and closed up to the Sunbeam and GTE. Didn't quite have enough time to get passed those two......oh just one more lap... smile

Massive thanks goes out to Ivor who pulled the stops out to bring a replacement front caliper to the paddock enabling us to get the car out just in time for the race. We would have been snookered without his help thumbup

I'll post up a link to the video later if I get round to editing it.

I had a great time picking my way through the field. A new experience for me. I just need more confidence with the toyos and a lot more talent to get anywhere near Daz smile I'll deffo be doing more of those races next year if budget allows.
