Oh NO it most certainly is not. I had a bit of a shunt in my last race of the season which took out the front lower arm and various other bits, after dropping down to earth from a height . So I sent the stub axle/hub and upright off to be crack tested just in case and as a precaution ( thank you G). I send the stub axles off for crack testing every year at the end of the season any way and they always come back ok...............until this time when the stub axle has been cracked in the force of the shunt. I'm glad I do send them off every year but some times I think why bother they will be ok. So lesson learned don't short cut on crack testing as it won't be pleasant having your wheel fall off. Just ask Andy Race how much the laundry bill is.

I was just wondering how do they generally get cracked, bashing up kerbs I would think. Does any one know a source of pre Glebe Engineering hubs. I assume they are Granny Scorpio ?

Just had the report back from four more hubs I sent for testing 2 passed 2 failed with a radial crack around the bearing journal. Can I get this welded and then re-machined that's 3 out of five hubs that have failed the test. Anyone else having there hubs tested ?

Scrap, it is then cheers A I had thought they might be hardened and welding up would change that tempering. Tim where you getting yours from ? I have long and short shaft versions but not sure which are which although I do use the heavy duty moded steel inserted upright.

ok boring for most of you i'm sure, here is a graphic example of damaged hubs which you can't see with the naked eye and why it is very important to get them tested.

V.much worthwhile .....if you remember Perry I used the place you suggested ...

Sent my two off ...one cracked.....v.frustrating at the time....but without doubt the best money I have spent during my build...

JR replaced the cracked one and built my front hubs following this...

Gentlemen, I have just had two of my hubs fail testing (probably due to my crap driving at Oulton!). Please could somebody tell me where to look for some new ones.
Thanks,
Matt

Glebe make them, usually in batches to JRs order. Try JR first

I've got a couple of different sizes knocking about somewhere. I'll dig them out and measure them. Got them from JR a couple of years ago as good second hand ones.
