I know most of you tow yourself. so though I'd ask here.
Since swapping from transit to a A6 the trailer seems a lot more unstable, esp with a load, it also seems a lot higher at the front, Brain James web site says front should be 50mm higher, not quite sure at what point though. but mine is about 150mm higher from front bay to end lip. or 100mm car wheel center to center.

when ever I get near to 60 its seems to have a slight tank slapper. I'm sure on the transit by mistake I've gone over 70.

I know Andy race use an A6 so be interesting to know how he found it, or if he done any mods.

I have a A6 2002 Quarto with factory fitted removable tow bar. I looked for info to see if its adjustable and its not.

So I think the only option is to raise the coupling on the trailer by 50-75mm, unless anyone else has any idea's

My motorhome pulls the trailer beautifully and often sees speeds of "ahem" Leptons smile but when I first tried to pull the trailer with my VW T5 it felt terrible. I beefed up the rear suspension with inflatable spring balloons set at 25psi which transformed the handling from terrible to good. Maybe the rear suspension on the A6 might be a bit soft?

I reckon its your ball hitch height.
My a6 was fine with an adaptor plate. If you go too high it'll try to pick up the rear which will feel like its on castors.
put more weight on the front of the trailer.
Lower/stifen the rear of the car (like dc did)
Lower the car hitch. (Probably not poss if f/fitted.

Does the same if too low but not as bad.

it's a 2002 so no air ride suspension, also suspension does not seem too soft,
I raise the tow hitch as this is the easiest option.

I allways try and move weight as far forward as possible, but I have a fuel box and tire rack so some cars will hit the box.
Last car on there was an XJS so was very slightly rear weighted (not connected I could move hitch up and down with 1 hand thou), but once on the A6 most weight was on the rear trailer tire.

It does sound like you've got too much weight on the back of the trailer. that will wag like a dog with a ball.

If the hitch height is not optimised then you can use a spacer plate to lift the trailer hitch on the a-frame.

Check the trailer manufacturer..They may be able to supply..Its quite a common mod especially on lower slung trailers these days.

I tow my Chimaera to track days on a single axle trailer and tow it with a Saab estate..
Weight just a bt forward of central so as to get some weight on the hitch.
It goes very nicely with the trailer fairly level, and advises me if I pass 63mph by gently wagging it's tail
hehe
