What camera systems are you all using, and what do you think of them. my rear unit has finally given up the ghost 6 years down the line. It was a brilliant and simple set up but discontinued now alas. I don't think I am going to get on with GOPRO as you have no viewing screen with which to see the picture you are going to record which is important to me as I fit the same camera set ups from one car to another plus I have a remote record button which is an excellent thing to have .

If any one is selling a set up, can you let me know, pound notes are awaiting.

I use a Drift HD - it comes with a screen and remote control, handles the vibration in my car (at least when on a damping mount, not tried it without) and the picture quality is good. Not sure if it's quite as good as a GoPro as I've not been able to compare but good value for money.

There is a GoPro app that you can use on your iphone/ipad to see a live picture to line them up in the car. They also come with a wifi remote control now. Picture quality is great.

Hi , Perry , I use a gopro with the lcd screen attachment and remote control , problem is when in drivers seat I can't see screen or red light on front of camera to say it's recording and battery life is poor with the screen so can't switch on too earley . I've bought a couple of cheapies off eBay but not tried them yet .

Hi Perry - I just ordered one of these for the bike but it will do the job for you I think - £50 all in as its on offer at 75% off this weekend only (list price £200) - whilst stocks last! It has preview, remote, and should fit standard motorsport mounts - I bought my mount from these guys a few years back hence them emailing me about the deal. Can't really go wrong at this price either - its also fully waterproof with the casing (useful for a big off into the lake at Mallory!). You could also mount it onto your skiing helmet! biggrin

Good Point Keith,That sounds great value and have bought two also, as you say for that price. I have only ever bought off Dog Cam as they are only a few miles from me but there customer service is excellent if you have a problem Only down side to that one I can see is it records for 30 mins max. Ok for sprint races , I do the 40 mins races so hopefully it will just start a new recording after 30 mins is up. To think I blocked Dog cam from e mailing me so often LOL.

Ok just a quick update on the Astek Pro 3 camera's I bought. Dogcam do not have a way of getting the microphone to work if you run the camera in it's waterproof case. I asked them if I drilled holes in the bottom to let sound in would that be ok, no problem except it still won't allow enough sound in so they sold me an external universal gopro mic and drill a whole through the side of the case. This does not fit the jack hole either. They have looked and now confirm they can't help.

I am returning my two camera's and gopro mic for a refund before the 30 days is up as I don't want film with no sound.

Hi Perry how waterproof do they need to be though , would it not last a race and then cover it with case ?

no idea bill, I just know I will race some time or other in the wet. water and electronics don't mix. with a case on, no sound and they can't supply a mic so no use to me, but you might think that ok.

Hi Chris,

The Go pro has a skeleton back to let the sound in but not the water. The Astek is a solid case. I did drill some holes where the mic is in the camera case but just not enough sound getting through to hear it on video play back.

I have returned mine and bought a Gopro Hero 4 silver instead. I bought it from a TVR chap on the chimeara forum thread I started and it comes with large flash card , ext mic and a few other extra's at the right price so I will see how I get on with that. I can of course use " Harry's Lap" to overlay the data with Gopro which is neat I think.
