I am sifting through what is now required in the blue book. It turns out my helmet is ok but my Hans posts are not ( old FIA 8858-2002 new posts requirement FIA 8858-2010 ). So new helmet for me as they have to be factory fitted now, no problem. I was told today that for people already using Hans the Tethers could well not be in date as I have been using mine for five years now. Can't see anything in the Blue book for this does anyone know or can find the relevant section i'm struggling.

just to add my Hans device is FIA 8858-2002 along with the tethers.

Have a look at page 12 of this:

Should help to explain. Your HANS device and tethers are fine. Your posts may also be ok, but that depends on the helmet spec. No need to have factory fitted posts for national events if the helmet if pre-drilled (which is obviously is!).

Hi Dan,

Thanx for that and your time, pity blue book printed don't have that even in red print. My helmet is ok for uk national events but it will not be acceptable to use in Europe with race held under MSA/FIA National "A" as I understand it, as it does not have the FIA sticker shown in the top example just the SA2005 in the lower example. shown here in the pdf file you will need to down load or view.

once again thank you, best of luck with your coming season.

Yes, I think you're screwed for racing abroad... your timing isn't bad though, suppliers now seem to be stocking FIA 8859-2015 helmets (and not too expensive..sort of).

Not sure if it would help, but I've just bought an OMP Grand Prix 7s helmet and added HANS posts for very reasonable money. I gave up with 2015 helmets... That should see me through the next five years (at least), would be FIA compliant if needed and the quality is equal to anything else I've tried.
