Freebie! Nurburgring 24hrs Trip With Castrol EDGE

Two PH 'reporters' required for fantastic 'Ring 24hrs race offer

Monster Freebie!!!! Two PH 'reporters' needed to attend the Nurburgring 24hr Race as guests of Castrol EDGE

It's pretty short notice, but we're guessing there'll be PHers out there who'll bite our hand off for this one... The (very!) nice people at Castrol EDGE have invited two lucky PH 'reporters' to cover the imminent Nurburgring 24hrs race - with flights to Germany, hospitality and even tents and sleeping bags thrown in!

Castrol EDGE are sponsors of the BMW M Sport team that won the event last year, so this is an amazing chance for our lucky PHers to see - and share - one of the motorsport world's most awesome events 'up close and personal' with one of the leading contenders.

If you are one of our 'chosen ones', this is what you'll get:

  • Flights from UK to Germany - departing Thursday 23rd or Friday 24th returning Sunday (final schedule TBC to suit all parties.)
  • Transfer to the Nurburgring with a Castrol EDGE 'chaperone'
  • Admission to the circuit
  • Access to the BMW M party night on the 23rd (depending on arrival day)
  • Access to the BMW M Festival - live entertainment and exhibition
  • One man tent (each!) and sleeping bag in the BMW M Sport campsite
  • Access to the paddock - with BMW garage tour likely

So what's the catch?

Well, to help share the love with the whole PH congregation, we need to find a couple of highly motivated PHers who are willing to take lots of pics, and then put fingers to keyboard to report the experience for the rest of us.

We're not looking for a lap-by-lap race review (other websites are available!), but diary-style articles to help fellow PHers get a feel for this amazing event - hopefully capturing loads of fab images from around the circuit, the pits, paddock, car parks and campsites that will make us all wish we hadn't missed it.

I'm up for it! How do I apply?

Easy. Email castrol24reporters@pistonheads.com with the following:

• Your name
• Date of Birth
• Mobile and alternative daytime telephone number
• A decent 'mugshot' (If you win we'll want to put you in a homepage article)
• 2 extra photographs (approx max 1mb file size each) that prove you know how to work a camera
• A 200 word statement explaining why, if we pick you for this amazing opportunity courtesy of Castrol EDGE, your fellow PHers will grudgingly agree we made the right choice by not picking them instead.

That's it - what are you waiting for? Entries close on 20th June (Monday) at 0900hrs, and we’ll aim to notify our 'chosen ones' by lunchtime on the same day. Then it's just up to you to organise a 'sickie' on Thursday/Friday...

N.B. You'll note this fab opportunity hasn't appeared on the PH homepage - we want it to go to proper motorsport fans like you.

PH T&Cs.

  • You must be a UK resident, available on the given dates, and know which drawer your (valid) passport is kept in. (Go on, have a look now...)
  • Your event report/s (all words and pics) will be published on the PistonHeads website (that's us!), and you must also agree to Castrol freely using any of your published material (from the event) should they want to.
  • You agree to being briefed, and subsequently to sign anything your generous hosts ask you to sign at the event, resisting the temptation to make amusing 'elf and safety gorn mad'-type comments. However appropriate they may be.
  • You will be responsible for all travel and accommodation prior to catching the flights out and home - this excellent freebie starts and ends at the airport. (Castrol will do their best to make sure your trip is easy, but they can't work miracles.)
  • No food or drink is included - so you'll need to take spending money.
  • The good name of PistonHeads will be in your hands. Don't let us down...

Don't worry too much about reporting skills folks - they never troubled us much here at PH HQ... ahem!

We just want a couple of genuine fans to have a good time and tell the rest of us about it.

If you get there on the thursday you get to take part in the driver's parade. It's like a 14 mile long track invasion. The fans meet the drivers, see the cars, share some stories, graffiti the track with chalk, see the racetrucks go around the 'ring, see the mini-motos going around the 'ring, see the "Wipperman scrutineering" (you only pass and get a "scrutineering sticker" after a burnout hehe ).

You would be missing out on possibly the best day for a fan. smile

I am going to be in Nürburg anyway so save the flights and I'll do it without the party or freebies!!! I would love to report the whole show for you guys! And I'm rather gifted with a camera (except my mug shot is hideous lol)...My entry will be in tonight/tomorrow latest!!!

Me and My girlfriend haven't got tickets and what an excuse to enjoy hospitality via my favourite online site!!! I'm on here more than facebook (mainly in classified section lol)...Grrrrrrrr WAY TO EXCITED!!!

I have already sounded out my boss about a day's annual leave for this. Fully applied and keeping all digits crossed. Although it will mean missing the Lotus Festival at Snetterton. Tough break...

Great opportunity to offer to amateur scribes. And for those of us who write unpaid a lot of the time, a nice chance to cover some costs for once. Thumbs up to all involved.

Oh, excellent. I was sure it was the thursday when I was last there. I may be getting confused, though. It often happens.

Friday it is then, young wuff.

Is this an "apply as a pair" like the Geneva competition, or is it "PH will choose two winners"?
