They are all sold out otherwise I would frown Shame we have been given this at such short notice.
I am keeping a look out on ebay but to be honest I would be happy just to get even a remote view in the likely eventuality that we don't end up getting any.

Looking at google maps though surely you could get a bit of a view of Club Corner from the side of Dadford Road or will that area be within the outer perimeter?
Rude-boy nailed it when he said no, I'm afraid. Well, as far as i'm aware, anyhoo.

Best bet would be to get yourself a ticket (grandstand if you can afford it) and enjoy the show!! Failing that, sell the accomodation on eBay - you'll probably get your hand bitten off.

Hi all, I'm new here but stumbled across this topic on google while looking for info about Silverstone.

To cut a long story short my auntie & her husband were attending this Grand Prix but are now unable to go. They have already sold the event tickets but have been unable to cancel or change the date of their hotel accomodation! She has kindly donated the hotel stay to me and my grandfather but of course we have no tickets.

As the hotel is Whittlebury Hall it would be rude to let the booking go to waste so we intend to head down and at least soak up some atmosphere but what I would like to ask is whether there is anywhere to go around the circuit without tickets. Obviously I don't expect to be waltzing up to trackside but can we expect to get a view of the track at all or is there a large perimeter?

Cheers,

Mik
Can't believe Whittlebury haven't got a waiting lists for rooms..

Does anyone know anything about the access to Litchlake Farm campsite? I have a pitch booked from Friday - Monday and am wondering when i need to get there?

I have a dilemma in that I sort of need to be in town (Kingston Upon Thames) for 12pm on Friday to collect results from a qualification im doing at work but if i really have to can forget about it for the weekend.....and try not to let it get on my mind! haha

Is it sensible waiting to leave until 12pm if I really don't need to or should I leave really early and aim to get to the site by around 8am? Is it a nightmare later in the day?

It's not really my place to sell the accommodation unfortunately, I doubt that my auntie would look to kindly upon us knowing the amount she has paid for it. I just wish we still had the original paddock access tickets that she was going to go with!!!

As for them having a waiting list....your guess is as good as mine! In honesty I don't know fully why the hotel wouldn't allow the booking to be cancelled or moved to a later date, I just know that it was going to go to waste and I jumped at the chance to go there. wink

I am of course looking out for any tickets I can afford but would like to have some sort of backup plan that might at least offer some sight of the main event and perhaps the sensation of seeing and hearing these cars flash by.

So out of interest, what sort of area does the perimeter cover? I see woods to the East on the map and a Golf Course beyond that so surely the perimeter can't be to large a distance from the exit of Copse Corner?

Have you been to the track before? I can't see how there is anyway what so ever that you are going to be able to see any of the track from outside the perimiter. The track is set down from some of the general admission viewing areas, then further out from here you have grandstands that will block your view. they definitely will from Copse.

As many people have said, it's not going to happen. I'm sure the circuit have already thought of potential places where people could view without a ticket years ago and since made it not possible.

It's not my first time at Silverstone but it is my first time at an F1 GP. At a guess, I'd say that there will be ticket touts outside selling off tickets at extortionate prices. Infact, I think someone mentioned in this thread that there are usually touts around.

Hope you manage to enjoy the weekend one way or another smile But I'd try and get a ticket if I were you, but expect to pay a lot if you go to a tout.

if you really want to see a bit of it for free, there is one spot where you can see the track from outside the perimiter fence on hangar straight. climb the mound behind the big grandstand at the end of the straight where there is a big wooden fence blokcing the view. to the left of the fence (looking at it from inside the circuit) there is a point the ground drops away from the wooden fence and you can see the track.

at last years race there was about 10 people stood there. the view can not have been great and security guards were up there all day (we were sat at stowe c)

you should be able to get tickets cheap on the way in to the circuit, there are always people selling them on hte side of the road. if you have a sign that says "tickets wanted" you may even get some at face value from someone who has some spare but cant be bothered touting.

I'm a first timer too!
So My question to those in the know is should I go in my 4x4 or will going in my estate be OK?
I know a few years ago on a wet weekend lots of people got stuck in the car parks but I don't know if it that still happens? When i was last there for BTC the carparks weren't much more than muddy fields, not sure what access to the campsites is like though.
So if people do still get stuck I'll go in the 4x4 if they don't I'll go in the estate (which would be more comfy, more roomy and more secure to leave things in)

Perhaps some of you are thinking that I am expecting more than I really am here. Obviously I don't expect there to be a location outside the perimeter which will give a view comparable to paid seats and viewing areas, that's not what I am looking for, just an area where something is visible even for a short time so that (IF we don't get any tickets) we at least have a chance to see what it is like.

I am continuing to look for tickets but am also considering the eventuality of not getting any, that's all.

@ burns863

No I have never been to Silverstone before, that's really why I was trying to find out what it's like around the area. I have been to the Nurburgring Nordschleife where you can get amazingly close to the track (I even have some tyre rubber at home collected from the inside of the Karussell after the events!) but of course that's a different kettle of fish to an F1 event.

I'm well used to the operations of ticket touts and the slim chance of finding a face value ticket from my footballing interests but naturally I am therefore also well versed in how often you end up failing to find tickets.

I fully intend to enjoy the weekend no matter what, just hope to make the most of it smile

@ Pablo

Thanks for that info, I will check out that area on Friday as I intend to have a ride around the place on my mountain bike smile

I think the best bet for tickets which are not at obscene, inflated prices will be on the Sun as the race gets ever closer. Any that haven't sold will be offloaded for what they can get....if there are any unsold of course.

Failing getting one from a tout, I am sure that the Silverstone website said there are tickets still available for the Friday and Saturday? It's worth checking. surely it would be better to have a ticket for these days rather than none at all? Then, if you managed to pick up a ticket for all three days from a tout, you could try and find someone who wants to buy your Fri/Sat ticket.

Just an idea smile

Pablo -
The mound you spoke of has gone. Levelled as part of the earthworks they've been doing at the circuit and part of the development plan that sees a new hotel being built in years to come adjacent to the Porsche driving centre.
In theory it is possible to get a view of the circuit from the Dadford Road at Club but for the GP they put screens up to obscure the view.

I live in the village and know all the footpaths and bridleways very well.

Try ebay, getting close to race so people more inclined to offload their tickets cheaply.

I have bought on Thursday evening before with pickup at 11pm for half face value.

We're going Friday, 1st time going to an F1 event for me. Really looking forward to it, & only just booked tickets today.

Doubt my scoob would get stuck in a muddy field considering all the auto-test rallies I've done in it during the pissing rain on grass.

If you see a silver scoob with PH stickers on the spoiler give us a wave.

Remember the first time I went, I travelled in through Dadford from Bicester and avoided some of the queues. I know the one way dual carriageway is better now but anyone know is it still possible to get into the car parks from the Dadford end?

On the subject of directions, I will be driving to Whittlebury on Thursday evening. I'll be approaching from the M1 South. Should I follow the signs or does anyonek now a better/quieter route?

A few questions from a slightly different angle. I have been given some 'Paddock Club Hospitality Tickets' as a guest with one of the top 3 teams at the moment.
I understand that they give full garage access during the race / grid walk / paddock access etc.

But does anyone know what tickets gain access to the Balcony overlooking the start / finish line?
(On the GT1 weekend I couldn't get up there as I was only on a media pass)

Will these tickets also get access to the Grandstand at the new Village corner? Or as its F1 will they only for tickets specifically for that Grandstand?

Many thanks

To answer a couple of questions:
To get to Whittlebury from M1 south it really is quickest to follow the signed route. There are alternatives but for once the signed route is the quickest and most logical.
Dadford Road is closed at the Stowe end over the weekend to allow it to be one way into the car parks and to protect pedestrians coming out of the campsites. Therefore if you try to approach the car parks via Dadford you will be stranded.

Hope this helps
