Has Sky said if F1 will be shown on Sky Sports of if it will become a further paying service just like Live Nascar as that has a additional charge.

Late to the discussion but....

The teams can't afford it, the BBC can't afford it and now most of the fans can't afford it. F1 is entering a tailspin towards it's own doom.

I am reminded of a quote attributed to Colin Chapman :

"Money is how we keep the score in motor racing nowadays".

Bernie has clearly won. Game over.

Ha. Did anyone else notice Jake's extremely subtle 'dig', on the forum?:-

"We aim to bring you coverage - brilliantly - of the remaining races..." (Or words to that effect.)

Hehe, I like his style.

Is Points of View still on the BBC?
Yeah they tried selling it to Sky. But after Terry's trouser snake moment they thought they could do without the controversy.

And yet the circus continues and shows no sign of abating.

Go figure.

The move to Sky will make no difference. The core fan base will continue to watch it, either delayed on BBC or through Sky. Football didn't die. F1 won't either.

If we want to gnash teeth, we should be doing so at the inept people who run the BBC and the govt wallahs who fiddle with it. Just cut it loose and let it stand on its own two feet. If it's genuinely a producer of quality material, it will survive. If it's not, it won't.

So, Jake & the team have heard everything we have said and, basically, like it or lump. Wow, thanks for that. I used to think he was a nice bloke...

Also nice to see Bernie actively hiding from the camera to defend his actions.

after watching the race and catching all of jakes little digs i'd say you are well, WELL of the mark there. what do you expect? Jake to ruin his entier career to make something blatent enough just so those who are incapable of reading between the line to "get it" i'd say the whole BBC crew are pissed of about it and have to watch how they show it.

There was definitely a more subdued air than usual with the BBC guys. Such a shame that it's nearing the end - they really do being an awful lot to f1

banghead

It was bad enough when it was on ITV, but having to pay Murdoch to watch adverts in the middle of a race is one step too far.

I predict a massive reduction in the UK TV audience for half the races.

or is Bernie playing silly games again ?
yes agreed, phuckin' stinks. Not long before we have to pay to breathe.

Nice little dig from Jake at the end of qualifying - 'Thats the thing with F1, just when you think you're getting one thing, something else comes along.'

Jake made so many subtle references to it during the show and giving that guy in the crowd the (second) chance to make his opinion heard was, i think, very deliberate. looked like someone might have been shouting in his ear directly afterwards though.

I expected a balance mature discussion on the pros and cons of the move. Is it good for F1? What were the other options, which I don't believe for one minute were none. What do the teams think? What do the sponsors think? etc.

Not a couple of cheap childish digs and sweep the whole lot under the carpet. Christ, the only time Bernie was seen near a camera all weekend he couldn't get the way of it fast enough, normally the hateful little man is always try to shove himself or somebody in front of the camera.
