RE: Ecclestone Says No To Electric Pit Lane
Discussion

I think the point I was trying to make though was who in their right mind crosses a road or car park without first looking to see whats coming???? Its the same with these people with iphone/ipod headphones on, since their ability to hear when cycling or walking is impaired does that negate the need for them to use their visual senses to determine danger?!
Exactly. Albeit that a car is a big chunk of metal, somethings brightly coloured, it seems to be the fault of the driver for not making themselves seem or heard when moving to other road users. It is like the idea of making all electric and hybrid cars (while driving on electric power) to have a beeper going off. How stupid is that! I would like to see how that is going to work in residential areas, where after 10pm you are not legally allowed to use your horn.
The idea that people working in the pit lane could get knocked down due to them not hearing the cars and therefore is dangerous is a bit ridiculous. To start with, it can happen now (and I'm sure there are examples where pit-crew have been run over), and people working in the pit lane will be all too aware that a car could be driving down the pit lane and therefore would surely keep an eye out?

So if Burnt Ecclescake say it will never happen, then look out for it's implementation in 2014.
Remember this dwarf said that F1 would always be on free to air TV, then sold the rights to Sky, which, when I last looked you needed to pay for.
Beat me to it. If its in Bernie's interest (on his bank balance) then there is every chance.Remember this dwarf said that F1 would always be on free to air TV, then sold the rights to Sky, which, when I last looked you needed to pay for.

Right decision!!!
And scrap the 1.6 L bks!
Screw some 3 l plus V8s to the chasis and reduce the aerodynamic and electronic aids to NILL !
Let have it some proper racing noise and a display of driving skills again...
It is Formula 1, for god's sake!

Or DTM (except the aero).

I thought people would have learned by now that when Bernie says "no", the real answer could just as likely be "yes", "perhaps", "maybe" or "shut up and stop asking dopey questions".
The only TRUE answer in Bernies world is, "if the proposal means more money and power for me or CVC, then I'm all for it".

Why would someone just be standing in the pitlane without having a cheeky look to see if anything is coming? I doubt you can hear them coming as it is, especially through the race with the other cars blating past.
If it wasn't from someone who should know better I would have questioned if the person making such a statement had ever been in an F'ing pit lane during a race!
Amazed that the (clearly proposterous) lie that it is a safety issue is being taken seriously
Helmet + earplugs + radio and cars on the other side of the pitwall at 17K revs, and you are going to hear a car on low revs - come on.
i guess the issue is the compulsory retirement of any car with a KERS failure before the final pitstops
