Ever time a car enters the pits, it has fireworks, a titantron video, and intro music at the pit entrance.

I think the point I was trying to make though was who in their right mind crosses a road or car park without first looking to see whats coming???? Its the same with these people with iphone/ipod headphones on, since their ability to hear when cycling or walking is impaired does that negate the need for them to use their visual senses to determine danger?!
Exactly. Albeit that a car is a big chunk of metal, somethings brightly coloured, it seems to be the fault of the driver for not making themselves seem or heard when moving to other road users.

It is like the idea of making all electric and hybrid cars (while driving on electric power) to have a beeper going off. How stupid is that! I would like to see how that is going to work in residential areas, where after 10pm you are not legally allowed to use your horn.

So if Burnt Ecclescake say it will never happen, then look out for it's implementation in 2014.

Remember this dwarf said that F1 would always be on free to air TV, then sold the rights to Sky, which, when I last looked you needed to pay for.

Pit exits are the only time you're allowed to see some exuberant driving in F1 with some rev limiter/burnout action. A little tire chirp followed by a low drone wouldn't really be the same.

Right decision!!!

And scrap the 1.6 L bks!

Screw some 3 l plus V8s to the chasis and reduce the aerodynamic and electronic aids to NILL !

Let have it some proper racing noise and a display of driving skills again...

It is Formula 1, for god's sake!

The idea that people working in the pit lane could get knocked down due to them not hearing the cars and therefore is dangerous is a bit ridiculous. To start with, it can happen now (and I'm sure there are examples where pit-crew have been run over), and people working in the pit lane will be all too aware that a car could be driving down the pit lane and therefore would surely keep an eye out?

Right way to go, wrong reason.

We want big noisy, flame spitting racing cars, dumping more fuel in than they can burn! Not eco green crap.

Beat me to it. If its in Bernie's interest (on his bank balance) then there is every chance.

Does Bernie own a team?

Is Bernie a member of FOTA?

Does Bernie have an over-riding interest in the FIA?

Can Bernie veto regulation changes?

The answer to all those is no.

Is Bernie talking out his arse to try and get some headlines for F1 in a quiet period?

The answer to that is yes.

I think you've just described NASCAR.

Or DTM (except the aero).

I was actually walking past the car whilst it was parked nose out in the parking space. As I got to walking past the bonnet the driver 'gassed it' or more 'amped it', at which point the front scooped me up and I did a comedy Lee Majors role onto the bonnet, I thought it was all quite fun but the driver was mortified and said they were very sorry but didn't look before setting off. Just thought I'd set the record straight, and no harm done, just seamed quite timely that's all.

Well said Bernie.
Hopefully he'll block the ridiculous discussion of electric starts too. Both of these ideas are aftermath of that dick Mosley.
Full KERS power along with engine starts, that I don't mind at all

I thought people would have learned by now that when Bernie says "no", the real answer could just as likely be "yes", "perhaps", "maybe" or "shut up and stop asking dopey questions".

The only TRUE answer in Bernies world is, "if the proposal means more money and power for me or CVC, then I'm all for it".

Why would someone just be standing in the pitlane without having a cheeky look to see if anything is coming? I doubt you can hear them coming as it is, especially through the race with the other cars blating past.
yes

If it wasn't from someone who should know better I would have questioned if the person making such a statement had ever been in an F'ing pit lane during a race!

Amazed that the (clearly proposterous) lie that it is a safety issue is being taken seriously
Helmet + earplugs + radio and cars on the other side of the pitwall at 17K revs, and you are going to hear a car on low revs - come on.

i guess the issue is the compulsory retirement of any car with a KERS failure before the final pitstops

Bernie should die soon.

Oh and if you think the teams are spending because of the rules, you very wrong. They're spending because it's Formula 1.

And while we're at it, pushing for big engines and V12s is living in the past. Not gonna happen!

The whole concept seemed to be nothing more than a fancy gimmick to start with, it really would have added nothing to the sport
