Kimi is clearly a bit of a marmite driver.

It's amusing to me that people are saying he won't be around for the whole year and he isn't motivated, and that he has no personality or was miserable.

The reality is he has a dry acerbic wit, speaks his mind, and is far more interesting than half the robots on the grid today.

Questions about his motivation? It couldn't have been clearer that Ferrari were making way for Alonso - hardly the greatest motivator for any driver.

Fact is he is fast - and if Renault put together even a half decent car he'll hussle it round a damn sight faster than Senna or Petrov I'd guess.

Vitaly Petrov, a nobody, drove a podium in Australia. Kimi however could stand a good chance if the engineers will be able to develop a competitive car.

And what is the real deal with team Lotus-Renault. Will the Räikkönen be opting for better teams after one season?

As already suggested, I'd imagine they'll keep Petrov and Senna will go. Sponsorship aside, officially he's under contract until the end of 2012 isn't he? I know that doesn't always mean much in F1, but you'd think taking on Kimi wouldn't have been cheap, putting an expensive breaking of contract for Petrov out of the equation.

Is my memory playing tricks? Didn't he just fritter away his last couple of years at Ferrari, appearing to be rather disinterested most of the time? Ex-world champion maybe, but I have no great expectations of him - nor do I wish him doom. I just don't get the enthusiasm for his return.
I'm exactly the same. It's all a bit "meh"

Great Driver but a sour faced sh*t when its comes to media and sponsors, I guess Lotus-Renault don't have any of those that need greasing so can afford a grumpy tosser as a driver, just stock the freezer and let him race.

I look forward to watching him ring the crap out of the car (for the half a season I can watch on the beeb :-(

He got bored driving one of the quickest of the current breed of rally cars so quite how he will cope with driving one of the second tier F1 cars god only knows.
Translation - he didn't get a result better than 5th.

Thats why i like Kimi, and Stoner in MotoGP, they are not paid to suck up to sponsors, just to win races.

He got bored. As he will pretty quickly with F1.

Didnt he also refuse to drive in the rallies that were far away? i.e. more than 10 miles frm his home?

How is going to cope with trips to Australia, India, China, Bahrain (if it happens) Abu Dhabi etc etc.

He wont as it is well known that he doesnt like the travelling.

As i say i would love to be proved wrong however i dont think that i will be.

Kubica comeback in a Ferrari in 2013, he'll spend 2012 driving round Fiorano getting used to the cars again and getting fully recovered. Just my prediction...

I thought all the races were availablle on the Beeb, but only half of them live?

As for the other, as long as he can drive, what's the problem. I'd hawk myself to the cameras and sponsors, but I'll never get a race seat on account of me being too old and not very good.

I am excited that the ICEMAN is back....IF Lotus get kimi and senna together....Give them a decent car and those guys will crawl up the ladder.

Both of those guys have a large fan base and very good sponsorship potential for 2013 once they start racing.
