The WRC 2012 Thread
Discussion
Been busy all weekend so only caught up on coverage this morning, didnt like the 1st day coverage without the commentators tbh!
Seems the same story with Ford again at the mo, driver pushing a bit harder, car breaks or driver has an incident, which for me as a Ford fan is very frustrating as obviously the pace form PS & JML is obviously there to beat the Citroens!!
Also many drivers complaining of little gremlins with the Fiesta, Mads had an engine issue identical to the one he suffered in Portugal.
Let’s just hope JML comes back stronger and smarter and has the ability to stay in contention without the risks and beat Seb & Mikko!
Given the bloated size of the current model Focus against the Fiesta I think the right car is being used as the base model.

I love the Fiesta but I feel if they went to the Focus it'd be a bit stronger.
I don’t think they can use the Focus now, but changing to a Focus I don’t think would have any difference on the cars strength/weaknesses. The engine would be the same 1.6Turbo in each, as would the suspension/driveshaft’s/brakes etc. Given the bloated size of the current model Focus against the Fiesta I think the right car is being used as the base model.
I sent Colin Clark, the Motors TV commentator, a Tweet asking about the lack of commentary on the first day's coverage. He was kind enough to explain that it was a "wee technical issue". They've fixed it for the repeats. IMO Colin and Julian are very good. Much better than some bored dude just translating the French commentary!

Not bloated?!?! It looks like one of those puffa fish.theres one owned by a guy in my street now, if he parks flush to the kerb, and i do the same, his 2011 model is almost a foot further into the road than my 2000yr Focus!
despite all this, the current rage of Focus would not make a pretty rallycar! the old Focus barely passed as a decent looking one imho!

Has your car been in an accident at some point, the new car is only 12mm wider than the Mk1.
not at all. a slight exageration on my part tho it does have quite big mirrors that dont help it look slim! and it certainly looks wider than the 12mm it actually is!Allyc85 said:
Thought id dig this one up as tomorrow, me and 3 others are flying to Greece for the next round of the WRC. Plan is to shakedown and qualy, then cram in as many stages as possible, only really watching the top guys go through!
Cant wait
I HATE YOU!!! Cant wait
enjoy mate, regular updates if you can. and some pics too??
Cheers chaps, should be pretty epic!
I will be taking loads of pictures, but there wont be any updates as my phone is extremely basic and has no web!
As much as I want a Ford win, I cant see it happening, with their chocolate steering arms and tyres tendency to go pop! I hope I am wrong though!

Enjoy, last one I did was Ireland in 2007, I think we managed 2-3 stages per day following a meticulously planned schedule, we worked out where the stages went, drove them during recce day and found good spots, then worked out how we could get from one to the next in time. (The joy of having a car full of co-drivers!)
Don't expect you'll have that luxury in Greece, but be sure to get to the stages early!

JML still leading....how long before he crashes?
lol, didnt crash but overshot a junction and dropped time - Latvala @stage end said:
The splits were looking really, really, really good, I think we were ahead of Loeb," said Latvala. "But before one junction, the corner before was really, really muddy. I locked the front wheels and the engine stopped. I couldn't turn into the corner, so I did a little overshoot. I lost maybe five to 10 seconds."

Ever been to see the WRC before?
Er yes and Greece was bloody amazing! Saw 12 stages out of 22 and could have seen 2 more with a bit of luck! Shame there was a few spots of rain, but watching the cars drive so hard and fast over such rough ground was epic! Got some great pics too, which will explain why Al-Attiyah is my new rallying hero! What a loon!Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
