Thanks for that. Wish I was there, can't even go to Wales this year because they have moved it to September.

i hear theres going to be a nationwide bad bout of the flu from sept 13th-16th
I'm not even in the country. Probably too much to ask for them to move the date just for me. vtgts300kw said:
Say what you want about the state of the sport, but fk me, it's a rather special thing to watch, nothing comes close.
Agreed! The national boys in the BTRDA are very good, but the WRC drivers are just a completely different level and TV just dosnt do the sport jusice!Allyc85 said:

It is difficult to broadcast rally live though. Need loads of cameras say compared to F1. In other news the snooker is pissing me off now.

Seriously first rally of the season, delayed for a pub game?
Not even an apology or info on screen?
Make me seethe.
What the fek is Gabon?
It's the crazy mixed-up world of Eurosport remember. If it's the same show that's on Motors, then that won't be so bad. Only a few minutes to wait. Not even an apology or info on screen?

To be fair to Eurosport - they weren't even covering the Monte/WRC until 10 days ago...so I suppose we should be grateful for any coverage.
However, if Eurosport do get the rights for the whole season, the FiA/ Manufacturers will want a guaranteed time slot!

I think it has to be said that the WRC has now reached an all time low. I watched the Motors TV coverage last night, it was the first 2 satges of the Monte. HOW DULL?????
When are the TV people going to learn that rally fans want to see cars from the OUTSIDE. Endless in car footage, which gives no sensation of speed, no impression of the driver skill, no idea just how close they are coming to the edge of the road. All you get is the whine from the straight cut gearbox, the (more often than not) foreign language pace-notes and a slight feeling of nausea watching the world pass by in 'letterbox' format.
I think they had a maximum of two 'Outside car' cameras per stage, Wooooooooooo!!!
And then there is 'Simulcam' (?) where two cars are super imposed over each other. Interesting idea, but the piece of road it covered was only about 300 meteres long, so you got no idea of whether a driver was doing better or worse.
This lack of coverage is killing me, i love rallying but it is dying on its feet at the moment. No manufacturer interest, cars that are more removed from there road going counter-parts than the even the group B monsters (i say this because at least you could buy road going versions of the group B cars. Go into your local Ford dealer and ask about a WRC fiesta and see what happens), massive gulfs in driver ability (Loeb was 48 seconds faster than Delacour, over one stage of 20 kms), poor entry levels and now TV coverage that makes the whole event look like a Playstaion game.
I fear it wont be long before rallying disappears into the history books

That's because you watched it on the wrong channel. The MotorsTV coverage is not the full WRC TV broadcast. Motors only show mainly incar shots, not the full production. Eurosport show the full WRC coverage.
