I'd have thought, given the rarity of E30 325is, it'd be cheaper to run E36s or Compacts. Maybe it is something you could bring up when you meet the organiser of the championship.
There are a fair few E30 BMWs around that had previously been campaigned in this series, so buying one of those 'ready-prepared' is cheaper than starting from scratch. Note of caution: some extra prep is almost sure to be required on ANY second-hand rally car.The E36 is heavier and has different suspension. There are a few Compacts in use rallying as well, which also happen to have the same rear suspension parts.

Great article, best of luck on the adventure. I look forward to following your season. When I started co-driving it was from scratch - you'll soon pick it up.
One thing to consider - look to hire a trailer if you can. Means no storage, plus at least the trailer is always shiny and new.
Best of luck
We used to do that. Trouble is the trailers aren't always shiny and new. They're not even always available. Add to that all the hassle of having to collect it and drop it off. Can get expensive too when a decent trailer can be had for well under a grand. Alternatively, sell the Rangie, get a 7.5 tonner, stick the car in the back to travel to events and kip in it when there. I know people who keep their cars in their trucks (which are parked securely or even garaged). One thing to consider - look to hire a trailer if you can. It was a tarmac rally but this was a very tight 90 approaching from around 100mph, the breaking point was a little deceiving and hence numerous BMWs did not make the corner. Ian W had a nasty role, Roland had a real go at the corner (hence the pictures) and from memory it actually rolled over the bank and landed on its wheels.
I parked mine on top of the bank
Better shot in Sweet Lamb.
Another at Twyford.
Death of shell No1 in Wales, it was manic in the early days of the BMWs
Great championship
We love the 325 BMW,We currently compete in a challenge spec car just the same as the one int he article, infact we have had some great battles with Rowland the previous owner!! As the BMW challenge wasnt very strong last year and the events didnt seem to fit for us we entered the BTRDA rally championship and we won the class!! Loved it in what was by far the cheapest car in the class...B12 has millington escorts and all sorts of stuff but the beemer is so driveable and great fun!( and reliable!1) enough power to be entertaining. We have also done the 205 version of the challenge for many years and loved it. I can agree that Pat Flynns enthusiasm and passion is second to none and makes it a brilliant and freindly championship to be involved in.
