And the #48 luck continues as he will start from pole in Martinsville this weekend.

No nationwide this weekend, but trucks are running with Cup at Martinsville.

Truck race is 7pm tonight.

Cup race is 2pm Eastern on Sunday, so I make that 6pm here after the clocks change, but the countdown clock on Jayski puts in at 7pm our time.. so I'm not sure hehe the US clocks don't change until next weekend.

As said, #48 is up front with Vickers in the #55 beside him, second row is Burton and Hamlin.
Keselowski had a shocker and is back in 32nd.

Jr fans will be pleased to hear he is back in the car this weekend and feeling much better.
MWR have confirmed that Waltrip / Martin and Vickers will share the #55 again next year.

whats going on with the 48 front wheel? on the straight it goes to a crazy positive camber angle which straightens out under braking for the turn. looks crazy but he's leading so cannot be wrong. Go Brad!

Yeah not sure, I wanted to watch another car launching but they don't stick with one long enough.

Impatience when trying to pass JPM, was no need.

Gotta feel for Hamlin.

Brad let me down (!) Had a double bet on him and Vettel to get a place (1,2,3,4 for Keselowski) over the weekend. He drives through the field and ends up 6th. Pfft wink

That's how they're set up.

1.5 tonne race car with skinny tyres; soft springs for heavy braking and flat banked corners.

Obviously was set up that way, but in 20 odd years watching this race both on tv and being there I have never seen such an exaggerated movement as the 48 this fall. The sister 24 car had no where near the same habits nor any other car as far as I could see. They certainly are not skinny tyres either. Whatever, the car was quick so I guess all the cars will have the same set up come next spring.

I remember Carl Edwards running a similar setup in the Nationwide series at IRP a few years ago, the front of the car seemed to plunge down about six inches under braking for the corners.

Texas this weekend, Truck race was last night.

Nationwide race starts 11pm our time, its live on motorstv. Highlights will be shown 6:15pm Sunday.

Cup race starts 7:15pm our time Sunday.

Jimmie Johnson has taken pole followed by Biffle, Kyle Busch and Bowyer. Keselowski 8th.

The only other news of note is that the Ganassi team have dumped Childress engines for Hendrick units next year

Well that was a edge of the seat race (towards the end). As usual, NASCAR races get interesting towards the end, unlike F1 that usually starts off with a bang and then turns tedious.

I do wish that Autosport would learn how to report NASCAR results. Retirements are still classified, and they score points right to last place. And cars are known by their "teams brands" not by their team owners. Hence, Jimmie Johnson was in the Lowes Chevrolet, Brad Keslowski was in the Miller Lite Dodge.

Brand is king in NASCAR!!

Rant over.

fabulous end to the race, (aside that is from the winner!) Cannot understand why JJ and Kyle B can accuse Brad of jumping the restart line when they both managed to get alongside or even briefly infront of the 2 car in turn 1. Seems polite driving is now out of the window for the 2 chase leaders. Go Brad!

Tbf, it was Brad that started with the impolite driving.

Also, why all the hate for JJ? This is my first season of watching NASCAR and have to say he comes across as a very nice chap.

He does seem a nice chap, but he drives for HMS which counts against him in the eyes of some as they are perceived as some kind of evil empire in sections of the fan base (less so nowadays with their current driver line up, I think), and he's won a lot.

History. It goes back to the Earnhardt or Gordon thing, you hated one or the other. Bascily, the hardcore male Nascar fans all rooted for Earnhardt (and then Jnr after his fathers death) while the women and kids and newcomers to the sport all went for the then young and instantly succesfull Gordon. Gordon then became owner or part owner of his own car, the 48, also run by Hendrick but from a seprate workshop well away from the other Hendrick cars at the time (5, T Labonte and 25, various drivers inc J Nadeau.) and got JJ to drive it so they were almost related. Thing is that JJ soon became more succesful than Gordon and took over the hated Hendrick driver mantle. Hendrick himself being of rather suspect character (google him) and running a superslick and succesful team did not help although little of the hatred rubbed over on to the 5 and 25 car.
Then of course came the end of the great Nascar rivalry when, IMO, the sport lost a great deal of its interest and, it seems, bums on seats, that being the day Jnr signed for Hendrick and became a team mate of Gordon and JJ. Difficult to hate a car while rooting for its sister car, although many still do but the passion is not there like it used to be. I have witnessed what appeared to be a whole generation of a otherwise respectable looking family (ie grandmother, mother, father, daughter and son rise from their seats to shout abuse and give the finger to Gordon and JJ as they took to their qualiying run with devoted passion and obvious hatred!
Thing is I now have a soft spot for Gordon and given a 2 way battle with JJ it would be him I would like to see win. Keselowski has a couldnt give a F*** atitude and is just what the sport needs, despite driving for the corporate might of Rodger Penske.
