Do you have time to do anything else apart from watching TV?
Don't you have a day job?
Eric for someone who is happy with the level of coverage they can receive this year, a busy social life and a day job to infringe on your TV viewing you really have a lot to say on the matter.Don't you have a day job?
Seems like you have nothing better to do than ridicule how other's spend their free time
If you want to spend a larger portion of your time glued to the box than I do, that is absolutely fine. I am not ridiculing you - just pointing out what I personally would not want to do that - especially when it involves forking out sizeable chunks of money for the priviledge.
Just typed this in the "channel now live" thread only for it to be locked as soon as pressed submit. I'll try again!
The news that Sky have permission to cut away sound ominously like they're going to do the usual Sky thing of constantly cutting away from the action for no good reason. Back when they showed A1gp they used to do that a lot, especially if the safety car came out. It caused them to miss action on several occasions which they then had to show on replay. On one race while showing the replay of the stuff we'd missed they managed to miss something else causing them to go straight to yet another replay!
It was extremely irritating as the stuff they cut away to was never worthwhile, often just whoever they had in the studio. It could have been easily saved until after the race.
I really hoped they'd learnt and realised people tuning in to watch a race actually would rather see the race! Hoping this isn't the case or I'll be sticking to the BBC. (When I can.)

While I agree they are also annoying, Sky's A1gp coverage used to be even worse sometimes cutting back to the studio so whatever pundits they had could have a chat about something pointless. The fact that Sky have asked to cut away from Don suggests they have plans for similar again. At least the reaction shots, annoying as they are, last seconds, the other interuptions used to go on for minutes.

I was annoyed as anyone when I heard Sky were stepping in last year but felt better when I realised as a SKY HD subscriber I was not going to have to pay anymore. So I am looking forward to the new season which I will be view on this. It’s my 8ft wide HD projection system with 7.1 surround sound. I can’t wait
Sorry, I forgot to mention - erm, do you need any help with checking the screen/ projector?I think I can see a small rip on the screen
Tell you what, invite me round for the F1 and I'll help you find it!

Just checked the listings for next Friday on my Sky HD box.
There is a 2 hour Season Preview show with Martin Brundle, Damon Hill and the whole Sky F1HD Team followed by 2 interviews with Legends Jackie Stewart and Emerson Fittipaldi (both half hour shows) and the racing hasn't even started yet
6 days and counting....
Bring it on!

Some of us just want to see the race--that's the only bit that counts.

I know they cut to the studio during the USA advert breaks for American hosted events, be it motorsport, golf or field sports but surely they won't cut during a constant live feed surely!
If they do they'll be comitting suicide as far as F1 is concerned. It would be just as bad, if not worse than having ad breaks.Edited by Teppic on Saturday 3rd March 20:00

God I hope this is to fill dead air like Japan Qualifying & Canada Race red flags of last year, cutting to the studio during green or yellows would be incredibly stupid, especially as they ill be under the microscope with a lot of detractors wishing them to fail and a lot of people spending not insignificant sums on a TV subscription, especially the Virgin Media customers spending up to £28pcm.I know they cut to the studio during the USA advert breaks for American hosted events, be it motorsport, golf or field sports but surely they won't cut during a constant live feed surely!

I also read something interesting in MotorSport Magazine this month about the coverage, not sure if it's been discussed here yet. Apparently Sky are the only broadcast company in the world who have the permission to switch away from the FOM feed so will be able to show their own reporters in the pit lane and garages. They also hinted that they may have reporters at team factories reporting on the activity taking place back at base. Sorry if that is old news.
Possibly they have the consent because the BBC will be broadcasting in the same country so it gives Bernie a chance to compare the success of it, or of course they paid shedloads to be allowed to do it!From reading it as reported in the other thread it would appear that the intention is to show their pitlane reporters etc during the race. Not sure I'd want this, the BBC system of just having an audio feed works well for me. I asume there might be an advantage for a race stoppage etc but not during most races.

I'd be pissed if they cut to video in the pitlane during the race, can't see it happening though unless maybe under SC. Sky are not stupid, they know their coverage will be under the microscope. Pretty sure we are in good hands (ignoring the BBC/Sky debate).
Took a look at the Quidco offer but i just can't bring myself to pay nearly £30pm to just watch F1. I've never been able to afford Sky and its no different now despite F1 being the only sport I watch. If they would just do a £10 F1 only Freeview channel I might well go for that - doesn't have to be HD or even an app on the ipad so I can stream it to the telly. They'd still get £120 out of me for f**ks sake!

or you get the 40 pound free to air satellite kit and align it to astra 19.2 east
you will get full season of f1 but in german, turn down sound and listen to 5live radio for the race
Or, you could not be a sad fking anorak tight arse and pay Sky for a decent service instead of "Keefs fking 4th best dish solutions".you will get full season of f1 but in german, turn down sound and listen to 5live radio for the race
