RE: Nissan DeltaWing: the full story

The same can be said for petrol?
I am a Le Mans regular, and seeing the diesels (even hearing them..sometimes) is just the same as petrol! (in the sense that they are mega quick, make a unique noise, and raise noise to tail when need be).
The LMP1 cars looked fantasic (you dont see the engine!).
Anyway, its going O/T- but the diesels seem to get a hard time, when in fact they deserve some credit for being so far ahead of the curve in terms of development.

In before the haters? Looking forward to seeing this in the flesh, this is the sort of thing that makes Le Mans unique.
ETA: No, I was far too slow D'oh.

Surely a design like this will be fast in the straights but very slow in the corners.
Have to hand it to Nissan for thinking outside the box though, suprised it will be racing at this years LM too, cant wait!
This has zip to do with Nissan, design-wise, bar the engine.Have to hand it to Nissan for thinking outside the box though, suprised it will be racing at this years LM too, cant wait!

Great to see some original thinking.
And from the ACO too! That's refreshing.
However I can't help thinking that all that rear-bias on the weight - presumably countered by ground-effect suck at the front - is a backflip accident waiting to happen?
I'm not so sure. If the nose lifts it will expose a far greater area of floor at the rear of the car than the front, so it's possible that the air resistance might actually stabilise the car in such an event. And from the ACO too! That's refreshing.

Hopefully they won't be crashing it though, so we won't get to find out!
the most interesting point that stands out to me is;
they're using a 1.6 turbo - which is going to be what is going to be used in f1 in 2013, so in theory, they could get a year of data and improvements, making a rather nice platform for nissan to either sell engines to f1 entry teams or enter themselves.
from the looks of it as well it doesnt take much for the thing to become an f1 car, im not up on the regs too much but im sure this is all being considered.

Makes me think of the 2j, something completely and utterly different to its contemporaries.
Amazing project though, 90% sure to be going to Le Mans this year and Id love to see this fly around more than anything else, especially since a lot of them will likely have half the aural character of their previous incarnations. This is just batty and the engineering looks brilliant.
