AIUI it was all of the front steering and one of the rear wheels which was broken, not just one wheel - no car came back to the pits with three wheels broken. It probably was more fragile than the other cars, and possibly too fragile for the 24 hours, but it was an experiment, and for the time it was running it was running really quite well considering the tiny little engine and silly front wheels.

The only part it shares with the juke engine is the intake plenum box, the Deltawing motor is a one off special built by RML with "matching technology" to the Juke motor (ali block and heads, direct injection, turbo, 1.6l etc). The current issue of Race Engine Technology mag has a good article on it if you can get hold of a copy.

I spent about half an hour stood watching them try to fix it, the amount of work he did on the car with a very basic toolkit was incredible. The team have already had several offers of entries from promoters of other races so hopefully it will appear again this year, perhaps at Petit Le Mans in the 'states.

The point being a 'normal' car wouldnt suffer two damaged front wheels/suspension components from the accident the Deltawing had. It would be like the Audi, messed up but recoverable to the pits

But would the Audi have damaged three wheels in one shunt? Is the design not vulnerable because of its odd shape? Certainly an impact likely to damage one steered wheel at the front is likely to take out the other, which is far less likely in a more conventional design. The rear wheel is also more exposed.
