My only concern is if some protesters get on the track. Like that idiot did at Silverstone a few years back (who also fked up the Olympic marathon as well. The !)
If a McLaren hit and inevitably killed a protestor on the track (and the driver!) that would be a disaster.
Time will tell.
On a slightly different note.
Qaulifying is on Saturday afternoon at 17:20 to 18:40
Race is on Sunday afternoon at 17:00 to 18:20
1) What chance do I have of avoiding the result that long!
2) Why is the Qualy show the same length as the race!

I have grave forbodings about this.
I just can't see how the Bahrainian authorities can protect the hundreds of team members, the GP2 teams, the media personell, the dozens of marshalls and the thousands of spectators from some sort of attack over the four days of the event.
Is the place going to be completely locked down with a curfew for the citizens, especially the shi-ite citizens?

If it does it'll be daft. Will Brundle still have a hug on the grid with the crown prince? will there even be any spectators?
If only the GPDA would boycott it. Let's face it, FOTA are dead in the water. The GPDA is the only "organisation" that has any power. The FIA (Toad) seem to not be aware of any "issues" in the country. Bernie isn't arsed either way. I doubt he'll be there if it does go ahead. The teams are bound by the FIA even if FOTA did decide to do anything.
It's a fking mess. If they go, they will look like a laughing stock internationally.
FWIW. If I were a rational protester, I wouldn't attack the teams, the organisers or their staff. The Arab Spring uprisings have benefitted greatly from Western, in particular European support for their success.
Attacking the race directly could hamper any attempts to bring the West into this.
However, I wouldn't rule out attacks against the regime away from the circuit during the race weekend.

Likewise.
I'm surpised some F1 personell, including Jake & BBC team are flying to Bahrain tonight, you'd think they would stop in Dubai or Abu Dhabi until Thursday and turn up at BIC as late as they possibly can.
Wouldn't it be great if they did the whole show wearing "war correspondant" clobber. Flak jackets and helmets throughout the broadcast.I'm surpised some F1 personell, including Jake & BBC team are flying to Bahrain tonight, you'd think they would stop in Dubai or Abu Dhabi until Thursday and turn up at BIC as late as they possibly can.
Photos and news on here showing quite a bit of protesting aimed at the F1 - https://twitter.com/#!/alaashehabi
That's the largest F1 billboard on the main highway.

I thought it was just money put up to start McLaren Automotive?
I don't think any money has gone to McLaren Racing.
