I just don't think he is enjoying it as much as he did last year.
I concur - the face seems to suggest that.

Certainly has provided its fair share of F1 stars.

Unlike Bahrain.
That is a bit like complaining there are no Eritrean Polo players of note isn't it?

Are you saying that a Senna or Schumacher can't emerge from China, India or Bahrain?

I doubt you are, there were Brazilian motorsport drivers for years before they got a GP, it is just the other way 'round now, the track arrives and as [hopefully] a Bahranian or Korean star emerges the seed will take.

Rather than relying on playboy millionaires to get the country enthused F1 is putting the track there and the event.
I'm struggling with Eric's point here as well. I'm hopeful it's not just about privilege and that only those countries with an F1 pedigree should be allowed into our exclusive club.

Personally I'd like to see top class F1 racing from any and every country that can host an event but I also see that we cannot have 40 races a season apparently.

GV's point is interesting in that he has picked up on the back to front nature of F1 in these "new" countries. F1 comes first followed by (hopefully) a motorsport culture.

Which is the complete reversal of how motorport developed in its traditional areas.

Whether this is a viable way of growing motorsport in a non motorsport literate part of the world is debateable. But only time will tell if it works or not.

On the Forum Jake said something along the lines of Martin being totally happy which gave the impression that in reality he was anything but.

ETA, if he does, he will have nowhere to go - the Beeb will pull out of F1 completely at the end of this season.
Why do you say that? The viewing figures for BBC coverage are holding up arent they?

I'm sure that Martin is missing the camaraderie of last year's BBC team, and I'm sure that Sky is much more corporate and restrictive. Perhaps Martin is also finding people less willing to talk to him since he has the wrong 3 letters on his microphone, which must be a little disheartening. But I would suggest that as the Sky team find their feet he might enjoy it more. It's still very early in the season.

True,

It all depends on whether the hassles of being away from home every other weekend and the sheer bloody drudgery of it all is deemed worthwhile.

Bags me his job when he resigns though smile

(By then, of course, RM and JM will be also retired so my reservations about Sky will be much reduced).

Errrrr, eh? confused

Oh, right, I see. If someone doesn't agree with you then you immediately switch to ad hominem attacks. I seem to recall you've done this before. Why don't you try growing up and engaging in adult debate?
Actually I was replying to DanDC5 when you put your oar in.

As I said I was talking about prior to the Las Vegas car park days .
Well before B.E. got involved.

But feel aggrieved if you like.

I do apologise. I thought that, since you were quoting me in your reply, you were directing your reply to me.

Silly of me to assume that.

They were holding up just fine before the BBC choked and dropped half the races.

Can't stop laughing watching the BBC Forum show when DC realises he has lost his man bag complete with iPad. Watch from 18:50. His facial expressions and body movements are quality!

I just found it on the BBC F1 homepage. The forum is about 33 mins long I think.
