Button is out now with the same ridge. If the McLaren's chassis is lower than the others so that they don't need the stepped nosecone, maybe they can raise the nose up above the line of the cockpit?

Surprised Button hasn't been out trying out the new wing. Same for LH as well.

Tweet from mclaren @TheFifthDriver: It's a blanking strip to simulate potential sight-lines for next year's car.

WRT Mclaren higher (less attractive) nose, if you need to change a nose during the race I assume it has to be the same type?
Given that Mclaren must have at least 6-8noses in the trailer (given they have two types and a spare of each?) could you start with one and finish with another? High fuel nose and low fuel nose, I presume not, too simple way to "cheat"

Any regulation Guru's know?

So how big is the actual update ?
With changing the nose and sidepods would they have to make changes elsewhere for balance , air flow etc ?

Everyone thought McLaren had an advantage with their low nose, but it looks like they are going to change it later in the season or next year... I was hoping the stepped nose would be banned by then.

I thought that the FIA were looking at changing the regulations to eliminate the step for next year? In 2014 the noses are due to get even lower, so something will have to be done by then, otherwise the step will be ridiculous.
