To be honest I think Ted could probably do a much better job, that'll give AD the chance to get into the thick of it in the pits and then we can drop the SkyPad and the blonde. They are getting better overal, but Lazenby seems incredibly self conscious all the time and Ted is starting to drift back into tabloid mode now he is more comfortable with his new employer. Lazenby was useless as a presenter on Sky rugby coverage - he's managing to be even worse on F1

To be honest though, six races in and most of the team are starting to gel, but for some reason I just can't warm to Simon. He tries to be funny but for what reason? This is a technical sport that requires someone with an understanding or at least a grasp of the show and he simply does not come close. Why oh why does he keep looking at the camera when he's asking a question to someone right next to him - we can hear what your saying and to who, it's rude to look away, so stop looking at us, or yourself in the mini-screen in front of you Maybe he's a 'Sky boy' but come on Sky, get some in who can anchor the show far better than Simon. To be honest I think Ted could probably do a much better job, that'll give AD the chance to get into the thick of it in the pits and then we can drop the SkyPad and the blonde. Loving JH and NP is very good too. So six weeks in, I'm still watching all the coverage Sky is giving me which in general is fantastic. Haven't even thought about watch the BEEB so far, but Sky needs to get rid of Simon NOW, should've been him pushed into the Red Bull poll Have to say, I can watch both... Love the sheer amount of content on sky. It's brilliant. But I'll watch the beeb over sky if possible, it's just got a better quality to it. I really like Gary Anderson as well, he's getting on well with the whole thing. Also, the beebs intro for the forum ( watched on iplayer) where it's like the drivers eye view from being a baby, through karts, up to f1, I thought was very good. Highlights clips and montages are the same, the beebs are edited better, with better music etc, just good to watch.

I have watched both Sky and BBC this season and much prefer the BBC coverage, Jake and DC are very natural and even EJ has managed to be less annoying this season. By contrast the Sky coverage is too fussy, they've got too many people and obsess over the tiniest detail. BBC manage with one ex-F1 driver, Sky need Brundle, Hill, Herbert (who is good) and Davidson, it's just too much. Lazenby is more annoying than James Allen and Legard rolled into one, and Kravitz is as much as a t t on Sky as he was on the BBC. The Sky coverage will do for the races BBC aren't showing, but I'm glad I haven't had to pay for the privilege.

Excellent presenter/pundit/commentator (?) and explains very technical things in fairly simple terms that us normal folk can understand. Pity Brundle can't/won't come back as I thought he was excellent on the BBC coverage too I actually enjoyed this race. Guess I have to eat my words about Massa cocking things up too!

I think his input is very good in the free practice sessions, when the people watching are more likely to be interested in technical details. And I liked his comparison of the hole in the RBR floor to an impervious sieve. I thought the BBC coverage was very good again this weekend. One small gripe was DC sneering about Schuey's penalty when he got pole, but his race commentary with Ben was excellent... ... even though it was tyres, tyres, tyres, tyres

Gary Anderson is top draw, he knows his beans and more importantly knows how to explain the beans in laymans terms. He requires little more than a pen and paper, the most technical I have seen him do it was with a print out of a ferrari but still using a pen.
I think a key reason why the BBC coverage is good is because the team is well balanced - 1x driver, 1x team owner, 1x designer and 3x keen, able and knowledgable people to present/commentate/interview.
I think the long term sky project won't see too much change. They have their platform and they are unlikely to significantly increase their market share even if they were to significantly increase their expenditure/effort. They'll either try and grab the full rights IDC or they'll let it slide and focus on their key sports (rugby really needs a shake up, they have one decent presenter and the rest of the team is useless/annoying). Lazenby was no loss for the rugby either, he knew nothing and just sat there looking smug, something he seems to have continued.
As for the race. It wasn't the best by any means. I managed to last the whole race and thought the best bit ws the build up as the race itself was pretty awful.

As I mentioned a couple of pages back he used an iPad this weekend. As a rest for his bit of paper and pen. m0rris said: I think a key reason why the BBC coverage is good is because the team is well balanced - 1x driver, 1x team owner, 1x designer and 3x keen, able and knowledgable people to present/commentate/interview. It helps that he's done it before - he did the same thing on Irish F1 coverage AIUI.

Not seen much of the SKY F1 coverage and that I have seen had less appeal.
I really enjoy the BBC's F1 style of presentation and their line up of both commentators and pundits has a credible balance to it. I look forward to their output come every GP. Yes even predictable processions as bad as that at Monaco.
DC's seizes every opportunity to bad mouth the old man of the track. He was a tad premature at the start of the race on Sunday when to my old eyes, MSC was blameless for the incident with Grosjean who had first made wheel contact with Alonso . That is again if my old minces did not let me down.
In previous seasons, I found DC's contributions both a tad biased and annoying. Less so this eason. He appears to be improving but needs further adjustment with his obvious prejudices.

Davepoth the Ipad must have passed me by over the weekend but I hope the biros and paper remain. Interesting that he's done it before, when he first appeared he seemed a bit distant and uncomfortable IMHO but he now appears to be very comfortable, strangely as if he's done it before. MGJohn, I agree about DC he's definitely much less "Party line" and seems to talk more about his experiences with McLaren and Williams more. Has he stopped being an RB brand ambassador?
