Valenica is the epitome of dull.. I actually fell asleep during lsat years race for 10 laps or so. What a waste of one of the Beeb's 10 races this is likely to be, I'm actually away this weekend so am unlikely to see it till Monday and I'm struggling to care.

I never understand why this race always turns out to be one of the worst of the year.

The circuit is similar to Montreal - which always produces one of the best races.
It has long straights, hard braking areas and close walls which should mean many safety cars. But it is always dull.

I don't get it...
It's to wide, relatively speaking Montreal is a fairly narrow track so mistakes are easily punished. Valencia is a wide track and all the corners that have the potential for mistakes to be made have wide run off's meaning nothing is punished.

Short of unlimited DRS use when within 1 second of the car infront and a second KERS reset line very little will make Valencia a good race.... rain perhaps to liven things up, (or machine guns on the cars)

Well they've taken the second DRS zone away.

I hope they have the DRS activation zone a little earlier on the straight than they have tended to do so far this season.

On some circuits this has been good (such as Canada which was too easy to pass last year), but at Barcelona it was a little too far down the straight to have much effect.

Wasn't it so boring last year, that ALL 24 cars actually finished the race? No crashes, no mechanical failures, nothing of any note whatsoever...

Was it 2010 when Webber took off?

Wasn't Di Resta (or however his surname is spelt) a bit fighty here last year, seem to remember him loosing his front wing on the back of Rosburg I think.

Oh god - Valencia or "worse than Bahrain" which is saying a lot.

Pole sitter will probably win, so I'm going to say Lewis or Seb based on their 1-lap prowess. Unless McLaren forget to fit a gearbox, or put his wing on backwards or something.

Will Button / Mclaren be able to get a handle on his car/performance here!?

I foresee Vettel or Hamilton for pole (and therefore win barring any incidents).

I looked back at last years race report on the BBC website and very quickly came to the sad conclusion that this race will be a major non-event! frown

I can see Grosjean getting a win here provided he does nothing stupid in the opening laps.

Yes, Valencia has been the most boring race in previous years.

This year, with the new cars and tyres, I am expecting this track to turn into one of the best GP of the year so far.

Well it can't be any worse than previous years, as I have not fallen asleep whilst watching any of the races so far this season.

More of a Kimi, or Vettel with Button or Hamilton podium for me.

You can't predict podium places this season in reality.

I doubt it will be a Marussia driver that reaches the podium though.

I like your logic. You could well be right.

I bet it was the 19th pick.

Bahrian turned out not to be too bad, nor was Spain and those two are normally as dull as Valencia so there is some hope that it may be OK.

You anywhere near a plain?

Anyway, id still love to see a Kimi or Schuey win, so hopefully one of those two to get a win. If not, I fancy Lewis going on a run and getting another win or two back to back
