Today's memory is from Sonia Irvine, recalling her brother's first grand prix for Ferrari - out qualifying and beating the team's star signing Michael Schumacher

Ok so I might be talking to myself but.....

The lovely Lee McKenzie took time out from the FOTA fans forum to speak with us and sign up as a supporter. She's written a great F1 memory too - 'I'm World Champion Baby!'

Well it's not everyday you get the support and memories from an F1 Team Principal.....

MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One boss Ross Brawn is our latest supporter and has shared 4 fantastic memories of his time in motorsport

His first talks about how he first became involved, who interviewed him at Williams and how he wasn't the 1st choice candidate......

To help raise awareness of dementia, the use of sports reminiscence & to mark the end of Michael Schumacher's F1 career, Mercedes AMG Petronas have donated a signed photo of Schumi to the project as a prize for the best memory submitted of him over the next 2 grand prix

Full details on the site http://motorsport.sportingmemories.org/memory/749-...

The work on the project continues to gain momentum, a couple of short reads for those interested in the approach and impact http://www.sportingmemoriesnetwork.com/media-/pres...

Howdy, thought I'd report back on another year of progress to those interested in the project. We've been able to secure backing from NHS, Councils & through grants to set up sporting memories groups in cities such as Leeds, Glasgow & Bristol along with county wide projects in East lothian, South Gloucs & N.E. Lincs. Some are specifically for people with dementia, others are totally mixed, regardless of any condition or not and tend to work really well, with sports fans just talking sport whilst making a few new friends and enjoying the company. We've also attained registered charity status to raise funds chielfy to support volunteers across the projects.

From a motorsport point of view, highlights of this year included getting sign up from the BRDC, BARC & BMMC to be listed as supporters, along with goodly folk including Suzi Perry, Crofty, Natalie Pinkham, Allan McNish, Jason Plato & James Martin http://www.sportingmemoriesnetwork.com/star-suppor...

If you have five mins to spare to add a few of your own memories to the site, it would be very much appreciated

Happy New Year & best wishes for a happy & healthy 2014 smile
