I bet the fans are so glad they made the effort to stand/sit in the rain all day and fight the traffic to watch the safety car Gp2 procession.

Is anyone else no longer receiving Sky F1 in 5.1 Dolby. Certainly the status / info bar does not say DD anymore!

The grid makes for an interesting race but one wonders whether the pace car will ruin it.

Be lucky. What are you backing, MGJ? I had a good pick-up last time when Schumacher made a lucky Podium. My main bet then was for a top six finish as well as a podium. So, before any action at Silverstone I've played up a few quid of that on MSC @ 20-1 for the Silverstone win and 5-1 for a podium. If it precipitates, those could be productive. I've also had a saver on a top six finish. All this before P1-2-3. I even had a small each-way today on Schumacher for Qualifying. 20-1 for pole means 4-1 1-2-3. Impulse rather than cool judgement I also had a few quid win on Vettel too as his runaway form last time looked excellent and his pre-practice Silverstone odds looked good. They are even better now ... lose some ... maybe win some .. As usual, I shall watch the odds up until a few minutes before the start and then may have a more serious bet based on conditions and other latest updates ... or, not depending on what I see. If it looks like rain for most of the race then a side bet each way on Button could be interesting. He has often come up at good odds for me over the years ... currently 28-1 maybe even more when I look around what's on offer. Be interesting to see how he progresses or not .... tomorrow. May even leave it until the race has started and then bet 'in running' That can be very productive for the race reader who knows his stuff. Looking forward to tomorrows action with one eye also on the tennis.

ferrisbueller said: Alonso didn't set a PB in Sector 3 on his quickest lap according to the BBC. Is that a good measure of whether someone backed off? How much slower was it? Button and Di Resta learned an important lesson, when you see a yellow flag just wave your hand Hakkinen-style or lift for an instant (not a full second!), or maybe just drive a Ferrari... Anyone got the sector times for Q2? Jenson's performance was woeful today, what has happened to him? Anyhow should be an interesting race tomorrow with a topsy-turvy grid.

Over the past two decades or so, is there any actual evidence that certain folks actually favour cars ... in red... except perhaps the evidence of your own eyes.... which counts for nowt.. .

Not suggesting a red conspiracy but there are two ways of looking at it, either Jenson and Di Resta were naive or Alonso was lucky, because I think the stewards were rather generous. Seb was completing his fastest lap at the time too, iirc?

Yes, during the end of the first safety car the picture kept breaking up and signal went completely twice. All fine now though.

Slightly O/T but my brother and I are looking to get to the race tomorrow, we don't have tickets but are prepared to pay over the odds if neccessary to get them, does anyone know the likelyhood of us being able to get in and for what price? Furthermore I've read the parking is a nightmare so we were looking to grab a train if possible, again is this feasable and has anyone done this successfully? Thanks in advance for your help, he's back from America for 3 days only and we fancied a day out!

Jenson said: It felt completely different [on the second set], I came out of the pits and could actually get heat into the tyres straight away and it felt good, whereas with the first set I came out of the pits and had front shuddering and just couldn't get fronts up to temperature. The story of my year, really. Lewis said: It was difficult, it always is qualifying in the wet, but we really struggled. For some reason the tyres wouldn't switch on in Q3, and we had no grip. The extremes worked really well, then I came in because I thought it was drying and they [intermediates] would give us the best grip and I was just sliding like crazy. I can't for the life of me understand why the tyres didn't switch on there. It's very, very rare that I cant get my tyres working, but I was pushing and pushing and there was no grip there. Something is not right. More problems with the Pirelli's? Or is the Mclaren just not cutting the mustard?
