How close to the race are we talking here? I've seen quite a bit of pre and post race and can't remember anything remotely close to the race

I don't, I only watch Sky Sports F1 when the race isn't shown on the BBC. Even then I only turn on a few minutes before the session goes live, and turn off afterwards, whereas I will watch the BBC programme from start to finish.

I did actually say "build-up and wind-down programming".

I dont think they show adverts from about an hour before the race. Can't say it really takes me away from the show!

It says a lot about F1 that people are more concerned about who does the talking in the race build up than the actual racing or lack of it.
