Well we have progressed this as far as we can, for our existing site, where we had the perfect building.

We seemed to satisfy all of the issues raised by a pre-app to the local Council, except the one where they were not prepared to change the use of the building to leisure, when the rest of the site is industrial.

Owning an existing building would have helped greatly but we are now considering housing it somewhere else.

Electric Karts are an option but unlikely at present.

Cheers All!
After being an enthusiast on a (very) tight budget from when I was young, the major gripe was always that we had to travel a great distance to find any facilities like this. This turned it into my life dream so please do keep me posted on progress. As an experienced karter and racer I'd be happy to lend a hand if needed as it's something that interests me greatly and I'm only down the road in the 'pool. I've recently been part of a month long review at a local outdoor track (I'm sure you'll know it but won't name names) and so happy to share the feedback from that.

Would echo what others have said about having a flowing track with overtaking opportunities rather than just a series of tight corners which stifle 'proper' racing and turn it into a procession. You'll also find that you'll probably have a higher incident rate that way as people have no option to overtake other than barge their way through.

Was idly googling this after a visit to a very good facility today.....
I dont suppose you're ended up being the new Teamsport Liverpool track on the southern outskirts?

Anyway, I was today at GYG which is basically an undulating welsh field with a line of tarmac laid in it, but crucially they had an excellent cafe and changing room etc. which beats a lot of big name tracks hands down (ahem, Whilton Mill and its frankly dingy facilities)

Key to the fun aspect of GYG is that very raw nature of the landscape - the fact the track has huge elevation changes make a great contrast to most other tracks.
I'ts got me wondering now, how hard can it be to find a suitably lumpy field somewhere near me and construct some nice facilities? Cheshire doesn't have a track AFAIK.....

Not me sadly.

I wanted to do this within my own site ideally rather than elsewhere and so I'm no longer involved in the project.

I wanted to be there most of the time if I was investing heavily and would not have been able to with my other commitments

I'd have classed that as merseyside personally. Not the most interesting track in the world either and a bit of a shoestring operation

Matcham's are laying a new circuit called Bournemouth Karting the other side of the airport in field, there's me thinking only indoor karting had the blessing of council planning committee's!

I beg to differ....we have enjoyed many MSA and NON MSA race days there in TKM...great little track with some challenging corners and overtaking spots
