After being an enthusiast on a (very) tight budget from when I was young, the major gripe was always that we had to travel a great distance to find any facilities like this. This turned it into my life dream so please do keep me posted on progress. As an experienced karter and racer I'd be happy to lend a hand if needed as it's something that interests me greatly and I'm only down the road in the 'pool. Would echo what others have said about having a flowing track with overtaking opportunities rather than just a series of tight corners which stifle 'proper' racing and turn it into a procession. You'll also find that you'll probably have a higher incident rate that way as people have no option to overtake other than barge their way through.
Was idly googling this after a visit to a very good facility today.....
I dont suppose you're ended up being the new Teamsport Liverpool track on the southern outskirts?
Anyway, I was today at GYG which is basically an undulating welsh field with a line of tarmac laid in it, but crucially they had an excellent cafe and changing room etc. which beats a lot of big name tracks hands down (ahem, Whilton Mill and its frankly dingy facilities)
Key to the fun aspect of GYG is that very raw nature of the landscape - the fact the track has huge elevation changes make a great contrast to most other tracks.
I'ts got me wondering now, how hard can it be to find a suitably lumpy field somewhere near me and construct some nice facilities? Cheshire doesn't have a track AFAIK.....
