1. Ferrari. It's not really a risk to put him in if he is replacing Massa. And with Kubica in the race seat they would be able to get a decent reserve diver who would come in with high hopes of gaining a mid season race seat - someone in the same boat as Sutil, Alguesuari, Trulli, Heidfeld.
2. Remember Alessandro Nannini. Wiki says:
"One week after the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix he was involved in a helicopter crash in Siena in which his right forearm was severed."
"Despite only regaining partial use of his right hand, Nannini was able to carve out a successful career in touring car racing with Alfa Romeo in the 1990s."
Obviously every injury is different and F1 would probably require more finesse but I would imagine the steering on a 90s touring car would be heavier than a modern F1.

It's about more than the power to turn but having the dexterity in the hand to control the many dials, clutch, gearbox paddles etc. on the wheel.

P-Jay said: There was an article about this in one of todays papers (Independant or Times, can't remember which) and the 'informed' rumours were that preperations were in hand to attempt a comeback with a full time WRC drive for 2013, as it's been accepted that his F1 career is over.

I don't really pay any attention to F1 related rumours, how many people are replacing Massa next year?

Sebastian Vettel is going to be there in 2014 so they are going to rotate race by race in 2013 between Raikkonen, Webber, Di Resta and Perez. Nick Heidfeld is also due to do Friday morning drives. On topic, why would you take the risk? Surely Alge-whatshisface is a safer bet? Driving a WRC car and an F1 car are not comparable. Maybe he will be able to drive WRC in the future but I just can't see anyone risking it. Has he done any "endurance" simulator work, where he puts himself through the equivalent of 300km at F1 race pace? Does he still have what it takes to turn it up to 11 for quali? He hasn't driven a single seater for almost 2 years, so will be rusty, and the cars are pretty different now! No more bullet proof bridgestones, different aero, KERS (did BMW Sauber run KERS in 2009?), DRS. Granted Kimi has done well but I'd say Kimi is a better driver than Kubica was.

Fact is, Kubica's been out of the game for way too long, there are plenty of talented drivers wanting to break into F1 with the necessary financial backing, and there is the probability that Kubica will never be as physically capable as prior to his injury. He has been my favourite driver since his 2008 season, and it would be great to see him back in F1. But I think he will be sadly diminished.

At the bottom of that article it mentions that Lotus haven't had much contact with him, I wonder if he will try his luck with on of the three new teams. Caterham might give him a chance.

He appears to of won the first three stages of the rally he's currently participating in: Few pics floating around: The wrist is still the big question mark though for F1.. seems to not be holding him back too much in rally cars. Very good thread on f1technical with more information http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3...

It's truly fantastic news to see kubi racing and competitively again, I did wonder if he'd ever be up there again. Looking at those pics tho his arm does look pretty mangled still - I'd say that it looks like his future is in rally, just too much going on on the steering wheel in f1.
Kubi was always a huge rally fan tho so hope to see a great career in the wrc soon

another rally won by RK, he's also given an interview for the polish newspaper stating that 'there is still a long way ahead of me but it may be shorter than I initialy thought'
Kubica has also revealed last month, that in the season prior to which he had THAT accident he was due to compete in F1 AND WRC at the same. if only he would not have crashed that skoda...
